Is the Anarchy edition worth it?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:52 am

The reason I ask is because my local Wal-Mart is still selling the Anarchy version for 59.99 (full price). But on Amazon, they are selling the regular version for 56 bucks and I also have a 20 dollar credit towards my next video game purchase. I'm the type of person who likes to get everything I can out of the game. These hidden sewer levels... is that Anarchy version only? So basically, should I just buy off Amazon and save a bunch of money or buy the Anarchy version from Wal-Mart and spend the credit on some other game?

TBH, i dont really use my fists of rage or double barrelled shotgun.

The rat Rod can come in handy, as can the armor.. but they aren't really necesary.

dunno your sitch, but $4 is a pretty small amount.

The sewer levels are in the regular retail game too (but you do have to activate them via a code and then download them). I haven't got the Anarchy Edition, and to be honest I haven't felt that I've missed much by not having it, but I would like a spin with the double-barreled shotty. For the sake of a few bucks I'd go for it.

Its worth is really debatable. I've beaten the game once and found only 1 sewer. And I was keeping a lookout for them too. I remember Tim Willits saying: "..there are these sewers all over the wasteland..". There may be more than the 1 only a couple at most. His statement is certainly an exaggeration. Then you also get the double barrel little shot gun. Its an alright weapon but only at very close quarters and you have to reload after every shot. You get the pump action shotgun like 30 minutes into the game anyway and once you do it basically nullifies the little one. The fists of rage are kind of weird. You could almost say they are pretty deadly and most of the game could be beaten using only them if you are tactful enough. Bosses, sub bosses and the authority would be the exception. They would be more worth it if you found yourself using fisticuffs more in the game. Like if there was a shortage of ammo or money to get ammo. I finished the game with $7000 and plenty of supplies so that isn't the case. Its just sometimes funny to beat a mutant in the face until his head comes off when you could have pulled out a gun. But its basically pointless. ***Almost forgot the armor and the rat rod*** The armor is cool looking but its rare that even get to see your character. And it also makes the game easier which for me was a bad thing. The rat rod is cool, each of the vehicles has their own feel and stuff. Once you get a certain vehicle with a certain v10 upgrade though, its probably going to be too good to get out of.

Bottom line: Unless you consider yourself a big fan of ID's games and don't want to go missing any bits no matter how novel they may be (like myself) then I wouldn't recommend it over saving the cash. Your call.

I agree with this. I got Anarchy edition and never used the double barrel sawed off because the regular Combat Shotgun was better. I never used fists because I would just melee with whatever weapon I was using at the time. . . sewer missions u can evidently get anyway. . . but I also agree that $4.00 is not much to fret over either.

lol thank you tokuMi. Yeah, I'll probably just order off Amazon then. I was really only worried about not getting the sewer levels, but if I can get them with the regular version then that's what I'll do. Thanks for everyone's input. It did help actually.

I fyou can find the Anarchy edition cheaper, give it a shot, I personally use the fists of Rage alot, they are great for taking down muties. The double barrel is real nice on the bigger critters, especially when they fire two pop rockets at once.

As for the sewers, I have now been in 6 - 7 of them, apparently there are a couple more. I found 4 by myself, but a couple of them are near impossible to find yourself.

Whatever your decision, the Anarchy edition won't be a huge miss if you don't get it, but I liked having the extra stuff. Mind you it didn't cost extra on the pre purchase.

There are 9 sewers in all; some of them a little well-hidden for sure, but at least 2 or 3 should be reasonably obvious. Good fun for a bit of dungeon-bashing or mutant target practice, some loot to be had, but by no means essential to the game. They're not really relevant here though because they also come with the regular retail edition.

Yes, The double barrel is devistating at close range, more effective than the full leangh combat shotgun, The fists of rage are ok but honestly i only used them in mutant bash as they are good for close range, 1-2 well placed hitsand they are down, its a mutant stopper but not worth using any other time and the rat rod is great for races, fast, agile, good armor but not as good as the monarch. its a sweet looking ride too so yea its worth getting aswell as the poster, badges and wingstick that you get.

Personally, the Double-barreled Shotgun w/ Pop Rockets was my FAVORITE weapon IN THE ENTIRE GAME. Pretty much acted like a dual grenade launcher and [censored] up EVERYTHING, and it mean you could also keep the Combat Shotgun for Pulse/Buckshot.

The armor was also really good and makes the game easier... not that the game really needs to be easier. The Rat Rod was also my favorite vehicle. I didn't use the Fists of Rage though, I just couldn't get the timing right at all.

Sewers are fun shoot 'em ups.

Crimson Elite Armor is all around awesome. Why pick one bonus when you can have all three?

Rat Rod Buggy's extra health helps out for early travel missions and races if you're playing on the harder difficulties. I don't think I would have made a few of them on Nightmare as early as I did without that 50% bonus durability.

Double Barrel Shotgun full of Buckshot rounds can make short work of "elite" mobs if you know what you're doing, faster than the Combat Shotgun since during "dodge and weave" moments the rate-of-fire of the Combat Shotgun isn't as valuable.

Fists of Rage are kind of "Your Mileage May Vary" in practicality but hey, my gloves have spikes on them in first person, I'm okay with that.

The fists of rage are the perfect weapon for the sewers. The double barrelled shotgun is great for the kraken and huge mutant. It also gives you an advantage at the beginning of the game. I preordered so I got the anarchy edition anyway, but I think I would have paid for it as a DLC.

"There are 9 sewers areas in all: seven in the wasteland and two in the eastern wasteland."

If you need to see more about them SPOILER LINK http://rage.wikia.com/wiki/Wasteland_sewer_missions_(DLC
