Hey haven't you noticed that a lot of the Nords have Austrian accents just like Arnold Schwarzenegger? Well this give me an idea for a very funny mod that i like to call the "Arnold Scharzenegger Mod".

This is how it would work:

Step one: Record all the famous movie lines Arnold Scharzenegger is known for in all his different movies.

Step two: Insert those recorded lines into the random lines that the Nord NPC say whenever you walk past them.

End result: You could be walking through downtown Solitude or Whiterun and an NPC walks up to you and says, "Get to the choppa! NowwWW!"....You could be walking past another nord and all the sudden he looks at you and says, "I need your clothes, your boots and your motercycle."

Whatta ya'all think? haha

They dont actually have Austrian accents(Austrian sounds more German) or talk like Arnold, they actually talk like Ranier Wolfcastle in the Simpsons, I know a lot of people think the accents are "similair", but they are very different, I dont even know if the accent from Wolfcastle/Skyrim exists in real life, I've only heard it as a fictional accent.

I've been waiting (during a Dragon Attack) for one of the guards to yell "GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!!!"

I think the accent might be totally fictional, a "bad" American attempt at an Austrian accent.

My mom made a very similar comment upon hearing one of the guards speak after you kill that first dragon. I'd download such a mod just to screw with her, she'd come to see the game as she has been doing, and guards would randomly start quoting... It would be glorious.

I noticed the accents - especially on the guards in Whiterun. Now it quite jars me. Also why do the advlts speak with faux Norse/Austrian accents and all the children speak with broad American accents?

I would play that mod. Often. Especially if the guards yell "Put that cookie down!" when they catch you stealing.

Austrian? Really? It's set in the frigid north lands, with like, vikings and stuff. They sound like they're from Sweden or something nearby. Except for the woman guards rolling their Rs. I'm not sure if they do that up there, and it makes them sound vaguely Russian to me. (Russian is certainly a more standard accent in things with voice acting. But it's only the rolled Rs that keep making me think of that. So idk.) But anyway, I keep thinking whoever Emma makes for this game will fit right in.

Heh... throw in the fact that many of the 2 handed sword attacks already seem very Conan-esque, especially paired with a character with the weight slider at max... XD

Im from Sweden and I can assure you that no one has got a Scandinavian accent, the nords either talk in a made up Ranier Wolfcastle accent or they sound Russian, I think it's hilarious.

You're either an expert that can recognise the difference between Austrian and German accent while they speak in English or you're completely unaware that Austrians and Germans (disregarding dialects) speak the same language - German.

Anyway, I saw the videos and my first thought was... I'LL BE BAAK!

Well I went and youtubed some Austrian accents and it's definitely not that. Ranier Wolfcastle to me suggests someone playing Wolf3D while being in the Seattle area, so I can't really say anything for that.

What I think is going on is the voice actors are trying to put on a generic northern accent. So there are bits of Swedish (I still hear it. They remind me of Vilja. And people from Nightwish, who are Finnish.) and some Russian in one case, and it isn't actually any of those. Also explains why the female guards are all from a different side of the country than the males. That, or the actors doing a really great job at sounding like they're from some country none of us know anything about. Meanwhile other actors don't try to do the accent at all, which is why the jarls sound like they're from a different continent than their guards.

Cyrodiils sound American. Maybe the jarls are all spies! And the children! Every child.

Also there is a cockney dunmer, for some reason. I will never look at Divayth Fyr the same way again.

Combat comment: "Hasta la vista, baby!"

Other comments: "It's not a tumah!" "I'm a cop you idiot!"

Ooh put in a unique named guard in one of the holds named Detective John Kimball, who will sometimes greet the player or other NPCs with "I'm Detective John Kimball!"

This could be really fun!

Honestly though, this thread brings up a good point: What the hell happened to everyone's accents? Things were going fine in Morrowind and Oblivion, so why the abrupt changes?

I am still suprised someone hasnt created a player character that looks like him yet.

Overall i am quite happy with the voice acting in this. It is quite good compared to the previous games. Still some bad ones, but overall a huge improvement.

when he gets arrested he should say "hey! i am a police officer, i am a cop you idiot!!"

and when he makes fus ro dah he should say "give this people air"
