I am also on a very tight budget.

Nexus 7 -- $200, but you'll have to side-load flash player on there (Flash Player officially doesn't support Android 4.1, but works flawlessly on there). Limited local storage.

Transformer Pad 300T -- little less than $400. It's basically the non-HD version of the 700T. Has the option for a snap-on keyboard dock that adds more juice to your battery life (additional $100). It officially supports Flash Player for now, but once 4.1 upgrade hits it (ASUS announced it'll get the upgrade), you'll have to side-load it.

I wouldn't bother with the slider or the original transformer prime. If you want to spend $500, go for the Transformer Pad 700T.

To the 300T, yes. To the Nexus 7, no.

The Nexus 7 is limited to 8 GB for $200 or 16 GB for $250. Everything beyond that must be networked storage (SMB/FTP/SFTP, etc)

EDIT: Well, technically I think you can hook up a USB flash drive to it using a micro-to-standard USB adapter. http://www.androidcentral.com/how-use-your-usb-flash-drives-nexus-7-root -- if you root it.

But how come there are no Newegg results for "Nexus 7" or "Transformer 300t?"

1. You buy The Nexus 7 https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_7_8gb (for the best deal, at least)

2. The first item in your link is the 300T
