Based on the signup process, I would say this is going to be a REAL beta test, unlike the majority of betas these days (even many "closed" betas) which are basically marketing demos combined with a server stress test. Have to say it's the first beta signup I've seen where I was essentially asked to post a resume and cover letter

Which means they are looking for serious people who are interested in TESTING, rather than playing, and who have some experience doing that, and who can be counted on to report bugs and give informed and informative, thoughtful input. Play long hours, start over many times, and not complain about bugs, downtime and character wipes, all of which are part and parcel of beta testing.
In the long run a beta like that is much better for the game, because they'll get high quality information out of it and be able to identify and fix issues before release, which is what this should really be all about.
