The Beta Sign Up

Post » Fri Feb 01, 2013 5:03 pm

Ok so apparently you are going to get to probably get to play in the elder scrolls online beta. Im not dissing the mmo game that will be coming out but they have sign ups for the beta and when thousands and thousands of people sign up for the beta usually you chances of even getting into the beta are pretty slim all in its own. The game is amazing I have even seen some gameplay of the game and that graphics are really amazing but like I said im not dissing the beta I am just talking about how getting into the beta period is going to be a hassle. I would say that they should just make the beta open but when you think about it its not a good idea either. That's because if its an open beta the severs or I should say temporary servers would probably crash. But let me know what you think about the upcoming game and beta and if you would like to try to get into the beta then I will leave a link in the description below/ I will also have my youtube channel link down below because it also gives some feed back on the game itself to so go and check it out.

Based on the signup process, I would say this is going to be a REAL beta test, unlike the majority of betas these days (even many "closed" betas) which are basically marketing demos combined with a server stress test. Have to say it's the first beta signup I've seen where I was essentially asked to post a resume and cover letter

Which means they are looking for serious people who are interested in TESTING, rather than playing, and who have some experience doing that, and who can be counted on to report bugs and give informed and informative, thoughtful input. Play long hours, start over many times, and not complain about bugs, downtime and character wipes, all of which are part and parcel of beta testing.

In the long run a beta like that is much better for the game, because they'll get high quality information out of it and be able to identify and fix issues before release, which is what this should really be all about.

1. Don't advertise
2. You're saying the beta is a bad idea, but you don't say why
3. ???
4. Bad thread!

closed beta periods are typically 'a hassle' as you put it, to get into. they are meant for testing and not for typical gameplay. i would wager over 75% of the people that sign up for beta don't know what are they getting themselves into if they do get selected. closer to launch there will be an 'open beta period' that will be more of a trial and stress test period.

Doubt they'll be selected, since there are a lot of questions on the form specifically addressing the issue of beta testing experience.

I am actually in an alpha test for an MMO at the moment, can't say what it is, most developers do focused testing now and there are only certain times you are allowed to test. They send you an email stating your testing period and what they want you to test, its not a free for all playing session by any stretch of your immagination.

I think they want to get the players who wont go off the handle when they run into an invisible wall, or find a broken feature/quest or an exploit. They want people who (like was said about me) understand that beta is for testing - not for demoing the game.

Strange that you insult a person over a post. A child maybe? Phreaps there is something new in your channel? No, no. M'aiq checked it and there was nothing new. This is why M'aiq likes adventuring alone. Other people only advertise false things to get attention and insult when they do not get the attention they wanted. Sad, sad people.

laughed out loud when i read that in M'aiqs voice!

but to be back on topic, i think ZOS is doing the right thing with a limited closed beta just to get the bugs out.

I actually did a mock beta sign-up as M'aiq, fully filled with some appropriate copy-pasted statements, and some original of mine. :) Got those screenshots lying around here.
