I was horrified when I first learned this rhyme's morbid origins.

I thought it took 3 days to die from bubonic plague? But anywas the rhyme is from that period. So is the phrase 'Bless you' whenever someone sneezes. It was believed sneezing was an early symptom of the plague.
As for the zombies? I have no idea, never really noticed it being anymore prevalent than normal. People have been into the idea of zombies since they became disassociated with black magic and voodoo. Pretty much since they became misinterpreted and adapted into something different in other words. Circa early 1920-50's was when all that started i think. Could be wrong.
