The Blades return?

Anyone else think it would be nice if there was more added about the Blades? I'd like to have a way to talk sense into Delphine and Esbern and put the Blades back on an Honorable path. Also, where you can become the actual Grandmaster and expand Sky Haven Temple and have Delphine recruit other generic Blades that can be placed in town and cities and give information on the general area; such as bandit camps, areas worth checking out, maybe even some small quests to hunt Thalmor kill teams hiding out in old ruins and such.

A DLC could play out where Delphine gets caught or killed by Thalmor agents and you become the Grandmaster, and decide to recruit more Blades to bring war to the Thalmor in Skyrim. You can send the Blades you recruited to raid Thalmor camps by themselves, or you can lead them yourself. The radient quests could be where you speak to a Blades agent in a city and they tell you about Thalmor activity in the area and ask you to eliminate them. The Final endgame could be where you and a squad of Blades assault the Thalmor Embassy and kill Elenwen, ending the Thalmor threat in Skyrim as a whole, leaving only small bands left to enact revenge.

The last part would be difficult as Elenwen is essential

Spoiler
because she is scripted to take part in both the Main Quest and a possible CW quest. The former would not be a problem since her part in the MQ is over before you meet Esbern and open Skyhaven, but her death prior to her part in the CW could possibly break that questline. Not only is the CW questline completely optional, but that particular part of it may or not happen depending on what the player does and when with regard to the way the CW and the MQ interact with each other. If there were a quest to kill her it would have to be set up so it could NOT to be given until after the player either finishes the MQ completely or plays through the CW to the point where her continued existence is unnecessary (and that would be almost the very end of the CW.)

Aside from that, anything that results in Delphine losing her self-appointed authority over what's left of the Blades would be okay in my book, so long as it's a decent storyline and not just an excuse to kill Thalmor, which, let's face it, are easy enough to find and kill without any help from a rebuilt Blades faction.

I think it would have been good if something had happened as a result of the player refusing to carry out Delphine's fanatical orders rather than just the questline is paused like that. Maybe she decides you have to die but the other blades refuse as they've all faught at your side and won't betray you, so she's either killed or exiled and Esbern appoints the player as the new grandmaster. That should have happened in the vanilla game though.

I like the idea of a Blades DLC, but I'd be more interested in expanding the story rather than just what you can do once you're the grandmaster.

Well, the DLC can start after the main quest.

I also agree with this Blades DLC; like I've suguested in a mod idea on gamefaqs, you can tell the blades "I am the dragonborn and I order you to stand down!" when demanded to murder Paarthunax (who was protected by all previous dragonborns and emperors too) And Delphine and Esbern will relent and let go of their petty revenge.

I also think that the Dawnguard should have an option to recruit and station members at cities and towns, because. As a vampire hunter, I find it sad that we dont even bother to station guards who are skilled in killing vampires to protect the living. I recently went to Riften where 6 vampires attacked the crowd. I was unable to get in there to attack, as I risked striking someone, so I could do nothing but watch.

Could this have an interaction between the Forsworn and the Blades, a cooperation pact, so that the entrance to Sky Haven Temple is protected by the Forsworn. Maybe the Dovakhin needs to do a number of strategic quests for the Forsworn so that She/He may be allowed to pass the camps based at the opening. I personally feel terrible that I have to pull apart the camps just about every time i head to Sky Haven Temple.
You could have communications between the Forsworn and the Blades and the Dovakhin telling locations and activities of the Thalmor.

Spoiler
Fultheim is probably a blade, because he has a Blades Sword. There should be a Miscellaneous Quest with him about joining the Blades.

I can't help but think that the Forsworn would only be hostile. They'd undoubtedly see a faction growing in power to be a threat to them...

I've always liked the blades and my main character has been an Imperial blade for three games now, so I was pretty disappointed when the whole quest line just stopped when I wouldn't agree to ONE crazy order...

MY guy is the only TRUE surviving blade haha.
