You become part of the collective. You all share the same memories, thoughts, and experiences. You also get killer implants and access to some of the most advanced technology around.

My view is biased, and as such I see no cons.

Cons: Total loss of morality, decimation of the autonomy of the sentient races of the galaxy, a nanophysical plague that will sweep clean the known universe over time.
