The BSF Clone

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 10:13 am

Some of you may remember some time back a series of topics discussing a website which was taking our posts and attributing them to fake members of a supposed Fallout 3 forum (most of whom were represented by an avatar of various attractive women). Couldn't find the topics so I'm assuming they've been cleared since then but the thought occured to me for some reason to try and find out what the deal with that actually was. Was the mystery ever solved?

It was never solved, although many of us assumed they wanted an authentic looking forum to mask all of the advertiser links.

The gamefallout site disappeared but now we have a new one. Last I saw of it gstaff said he was contacting their legal department about it although I'm not sure if anything did or even could come of that.

After "gamefallout", "gamesas" popped up as well. Not sure if they were taken down as well.

Damn. I knew something was wrong with me. I always wondered why my left hand was on my right arm.

I just tried to go there, couldn't find it via a Google search. But then again, if I cared I would've honestly tried harder.

The gamesas.com still does exist. More than that, when I google TES-related keywords, its links often go to the first page. One thing anyone can do is to vote "Untrustworthy" on http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/gamesas.com or some similar rating site - maybe not much, but better than nothing, I guess.

My theory is that they want people to unwittingly register and then spam-out their email accounts.

EDIT: Their homepage looks pretty cool, although it's pretty obvious it is fake from it's boards, Skyrim and the ELder Scrolls then..... Fallout, Crysis and Othor (?)

That and hope it's victims come across the bizzaro version of this topic and realize the horrifying truth.

It hasn't been updated for ages, it should be safe but I doubt you'd have much luck finding yourself.
