is the collectors edition value for money in the uk ?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:25 am

i have look at the collectors edition
it £40 for a standard version or £70 for the collectors edition give or take a bit
depending were you buy it

is the collectors edition worth £30 more for some plastic pokerchips ,a DVD , deck of cards and a book and not one DLC
i think it the biggest rip off i have even seen
when i compare it to the fable 3 CE which is £55 with so meny DLCs you could drown in them

i will be getting the standard version as i got a good deal only £33 for a xbox version
is this a rip off at a time were money not so good around the world and their is going to be 101 great games released at the same time as fallout NV
or have i missed the point

I had this same thought. Why is the difference between the PC and console collector's editions £20, PC being £50 and consoles £70, when the difference in cost of standard editions is £10? I'd love to have that explained because £60 is about tolerable and understandable once lisencing costs added onto the price of the PC version, but £70 feels excessive.

or have i missed the point

If you use the terms "value" and "collector's edition" in the same sentence, you have indeed missed the point entirely.

The word "collector" itself is a dead giveaway as to what the "point" is- it has nothing to do with practicality or value, it's all about "some extra neat crap for those willing to pony up the money for some extras to sit on their bookself and feel good about having." Toys, plain and simple. And they'll sell a boatload of'em, whether you think it's a "good value" or not.

I'll be buying one. You don't think it's a good value, don't buy one. It's that simple.

You don't need to buy the collectors edition to enjoy the game, you don't even need to pre order the game to enjoy the game just because it comes with some pre order bonuses.

The game has been designed to be enjoyed with or without all of that so just buy the regular edition.

well I wouldn't go getting your nickers in a not over the price coz it could always be worse... in australia the SE is $100 AUD which equals roughly ?58 and the CE is $150 which is roughly ?85... so your getting it mush cheaper the us, SE is ?20 cheaper and CE ?15 cheaper in UK then AUS

I'll probably be buying the Collector's Edition because I'm a big Fallout fan, and the goodies do look pretty cool. Though, I still feel I'm being robbed... c'mon £70+?

If you're an avid Fallout fan and think the extras are nice (and you can spare the cash), then I say go for it. But if you're on the fence about it because money's tight, then don't bother.

I'd happily pay £10 more than a PC collector's for a console collector's sadly not used to the idea of paying £20 more.

I'm on the fence about giving in and getting it for PC since that's cheapest, just confused about the difference in price of the collector's editions. But hey £50 on PC for a load of custom themed toys and a made especially comic is actually value when you think of it : ) .... just not for console : (

Aren't you the vindictive one?

How about people spend whatever they want on whatever they want? Just because you don't think it's worth it doesn't mean everybody else has to have the same opinion.

£70 is around what i would expect to pay, seems reasonable. Its only what, a tenner more than the F3 edition? Barely a difference. It will live happily with my F3 and Bioshock Collectors Editions.

In truth, i dont understand the drastic price difference between the PC and console versions.

Im so glad they didnt include and of that 'extra content' crap in it.

I'm getting the Collectors edition, but it's only $80 for me since I live in America. A mere $20 extra isn't too bad for some cool Fallout crap to put on my desk.

Even better I have a cunning plan. I will buy the PC collector's edition for £50 and a friend is willing to buy the actual game itself for £30 and I get the XBOX 360 game seperately from somehwere else for £34 and the CE goodies at a cost of £20 : ) . In total costing £54 a price I am willing to pay for the collectors stuff and the XBOX 360 game. WOOO!

I know I could get it for PC and keep it but my PC is so drecpit it can only just about run Oblivion with the Oldblivion mod.

My head hurts now... funnily enough I understood that eventually though...

Yeah, it's worth it. In Australia, the typical graphic novel will set you back 30-40 bucks, whereas for the collectors edition (£30 equals about $50 AU), you get poker chips, a deck of cards, and so on which would (the cards are cheap, but poker chips are quite a bit more) probably cost you around £50.

So you're getting £10-20 worth of extra stuff for pretty much nothing.

Then again, "collectors edition", as people have said, implies spending cash on crap you don't need.

Also, the Australian collector's edition is significantly more expensive than the UK one, to the point that I'm spending a good $70 more than the basic version (so roughly £40 more than you, give or take)

Also, currency conversion is wierd.

?

There's a graphic novel being made called "All Roads" and my understanding is it's hardcover and being made exclusively for the collector's editions, this is what I want most out of the collector's edition. : )
