The College of Winterhold

I just finished the questline, and I'm shocked at how poorly written it was. The ball is never explained, I dislike the deus ex machina used by introducing some random order of mages that come out of nowhere to fix a problem that some other random mage inexplicably causes. It only gets worse afterwards when the arch-mage dies in a blackout and Mirabelle dies whilst you're in the labyrinth, you're not even there to witness Ancano's growth in power and Mirabelle's struggle to fight against it (leading to her death), you just read about it in a single line of text from Tolfdir. I almost laughed when the Psijic Order shows up after Ancano's death, tells you the world isn't ready for the orb and disappears with it. Really? None of the guild members seem to even care, the way you're instantaneously made arch-mage is awkward too. Tolfdir just walks up like "yo, nice job. Seeing as everyone else is dead you can be arch-mage 'till the giant vibrator of cletorotopia is unearthed and the secret order of gimps come to reclaim it lolkcya".

Does anyone else think it svcked major balls, or did anyone out there enjoy it?

not the strongest storyline, but I still enjoyed it.

dark brotherhood seems to be the best to me so far.

I enjoyed it. But I've enjoyed everything in the game, I'm easily pleased.

My favourite so far is helping the Legions. Mainly defending Whiterun was fun.

It always is, isn't it?

But anyway, Mage's Guild Storyline weren't very good in neither Morrowind or Oblivion.
I'm planning in start a Quest Mod to Overhaul the College and use the Vanilla quests at the end, that way the progression will be clearer.

Agreed that the overall mages guild story line was lacking.

But isn't this pretty obvious - they're leaving all this unexplained to push out another DLC.

One of my favorite quest lines in the game .... sheesh ... you get to become archmage and you get some really good gear along the way .... AND and awesome pad at the end ... whats not to love?

It's too short and too fast. You join the College as a novice mage and [censored] hits the fan immediately, you solve the problem by going through 3 dungeons and a few other minor tasks, and BAM you're Archmage. The questline is like 5 times shorter than in Oblivion, and it hasn't any feeling of progression within the College.

Fairly sure the Eye of Magnus was explained as a magicka generator at least three times. Maybe you didn't read everything. :P

Why is it sooooo short?? It's like a joke how short it is. Although I did enjoy it while it lasted
