LET'S MAKE THIS WORK PEOPLE!

Okay, now as anyone could see there are HUNDREDS of tech threads floating around in CD - ranging from questions about graphics hardware, to questions about pricier graphics hardware and other tech such as monitors, hard drives and Processors to announcement threads of new technology and more. (I accede - I'm not being very eloquent here)

Any questions you have, tech news or ANYTHING related to buying/selling/information/announcements of new hardware should go here.

For example, if you come to the forums to ask "What is the better graphics hardware" or "What sort of RAM should I put in my PC?" then it should go here - I'm a little hazy, I know - but please keep all those graphics card and tech questions to one thread! Please!
So here's the summary, all:
 • Announcements and queries on new or unreleased tech
 • Benchmarks and results of hardware/discussion
 • Questions on what sort of hardware you need/want for your machine
 • Questions about existing tech and/or function
 • Pricing and recommendations
Should be kept to THIS THREAD.

This has been A-okayed by CCNA for all who were wondering - it's up to you to stop filling CD with the same topics again and again that ask what the most powerful card in existence is so you can (not) buy it.

If you feel you have a question or can answer one - please feel free to do so.

Thanks all.
Adding more links shortly, thank you for your patience.

(Threads 1-85 have been all pruned, may they rest in peace)

Do I also have to put a big glowing neon sign to this in my signature? THERE ARE TOO MANY TECH THREADS - THIS IS NOT A FORUM FOR YOUR TECH WOES!

But we will gladly help you anyway.

3.) pre-assembled PC? ...or can you build your own?
4.) what is needed other than the PC tower? Monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, Windows OS disc? All these can jack up the price.
5.) product preferences, preferred seller, and intended aim

but please, no "I want teh superererest Peecee evar1!!!!11!1", because really, only Bill Gates has that much moolah.

And, speaking of building your own PC, two sets of good how-to videos from Newegg:

From last thread....

I'm throwing some stuff together using newegg.com because I plan on purchasing building a PC and I've actually never done it before. I've upgraded PC's, I know my way around, but I've never actually built one from scratch so here's my first try. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

So I started with a CPU and Motherboard and it's a combo deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.959055

Then I looked at Cases: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231429

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697

I'm not too worried about a graphics card right now because the HD4000 is pretty solid. This was a quick jog through Newegg looking at deals. I may not need a HDD because my girlfriends dad just bought a 2TB hdd for no reason so he has a 500gb hdd laying around.

Am I doing alright? Is there anything wrong? My main "I don't know" was the PSU. I just winged it. Would it be alright if I planned on getting a GPU in a few months?

If you don't plan on overclocking the CPU much, the board in the combo is alright. However if you do plan to, I recommend the next step up:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.959052

Old case, old design. Not to say it's bad or anything but it's rather featureless internally, just feel there's more out there nowadays. These cases have cable management features and an open slot for the motherboard's CPU area for convenience:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146084

PSU is a good choice, but there are modular ones around that price range or a few bucks more:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139031

As for HDD, not a fan of Seagate since the days of Maxtor acquisition....quality has been rather hit or miss. Your choice, but I'd rather suggest Western Digital's Caviar Black for a bit more. Your choice really. Might want to be wary of this 500GB passdown drive....speed may not be all that great if it's a much older drive.

Ok, so I said I'd bring this over to this thread.

Narmy recommended that I switch the color mode from RGB to YCbCr444 makes the dark colors look better.

However, For some weird reason pixel format isn't in my Catalyst Control Center. I know where it should be, as I looked it up ( which you can see in the link below ), and it isn't where it should be.

This is weird, I looked up reasons for it not appearing but I can't find anyone who had the same problem.

http://www.avforums.com/forums/home-entertainment-pcs/1474013-pixel-format-video-dynamic-range-settings-thread.html you see how it's under his " My Digital Flat - Panels " option? It isn't there for me.

Anybody with CCC know what's going on?
