The Companion Quests

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:53 pm

I've worked around this the best I could, but it is driving me insane. The companions are stuck in mourning and will not open a new quest. I finally got one of them to snap out of it by attacking him, but to no avail. He gave me work that I had previously completed and now that one is stuck on my list. Is there anyway to get the companions out of mourning so I can finish out the quest line. I'd like to get the cure for the werewolf disease. I have the witches heads but I cannot continue. I have tried to do so on my own and that didn't work out. Any ideas, besides starting over?

Thanks

I feel your pain tbone. My first character just kept getting animal extermination quests from aela after skjor returned from the dead. Second character I went straight to whiterun and did only companion quests. Skjor came back to life and then I couldn't exit Jorrvaskr hall without the game crashing. Third character I never even entered Jorrvaskr hall.

My fourth and current character I checked the wiki sites first and am going to skip becoming a werewolf. That way I can keep getting radiant quests. I hope this works!!

It is very disappointing that there is no mention of the companion questline in the 1.4 patch notes.

I've got the same problem , I've also seen replys where it says wait 32 days before returning with the heads , others have said this works, but I've tried it twice returning on 2 different days and it never worked for me.

Yeah, I managed to get through the quests but Jorvasskr is pretty bugged out.

I have Skjor back to life as well. He even gives out work again. It's almost like the whole thing started over again. I still have the "See the Companions leaders for work" in my misc. quest journal. And I already did them all!!

It seems like the Silver Hands attack messed up the whole area IMO. I just saved before entering Jorvasskr incase of freezes. Try using the back door or even waiting for them out back where they do training.

My girlfriend made it through the companion quests without a hitch. She did most of the quests right from the start where as I tended to jump from the companion quest lines to others. I tend to work on several quest lines at a time, guess that may be a no no. This is my second character though and I'm at level 54 with it, svcks I have to start completely over just for the companion quests, but, what can one do. I've tried the waiting trick, it hasn't worked for me. I managed to get Farkus out of mourning by picking a fight with him, had to exit outside and let the Whitrun gaurds almost kill him before he got back into "calm" mode. I still didn't get the next quest and the rest of the companions are still in mourning. Wonder if I pick a fight with all of them it will get things back on track? lol

Picking a fight won't help, if you have access to the console then you might use some commands to get it fixed. Alternatively look http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Purity_of_Revenge for known bugs (you can also find the quest stages there).

Thanks for the input but I haven't gotten the Purity of Revenge quest yet, Blood's Honor was the last one issued to me and when I returned with the heads the companions were locked in mourning. I am new to the PS3 console and know very little about it.

I'll have to check and see if I've completed the Helm of Witerhold quest, it doesn't sound familiar so that may be my issue. Thanks, I'll check it out!

The companions in my game got stuck at the funeral too. if you still have an autosave from entering whiterun, try loading that and do the funeral over, it worked the second time for me.

Bizarro Todd notice this in patch notes

“Blood’s Honor” will start properly if you visited and completed Driftshade and an extended period of time passes before starting the quest.

Bizarro Todd hope this fix things or gnashing of teeth will result.

It'd be nice if console gamers could fix these issues on their own. Very frustrating.

Hmm. Played through the Companion quests twice without a problem.
