The Dawnguards are connected to Azura? (theory)

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:09 pm

Ok, this may be a far fetched theory, but I wanted an experts views on this theory:

Considering that the vampires of Dawnguard seem to be connected to Molag Bal according to some, is it possible that the Dawnguards are connected to Azura?

Azura is a "good" deadric princess, in contrary to Molag Bal. She is the deadric princess of dawn and dusk, and maybe that has something to do with the dawnguard? Maybe they are dedicated to serve Azura? Considering that the vampires want to "end the terror of the sun", this may be something Azura wants to stop.

Do you think this may be plausible?

It certainly would make sense, and in oblivion if i remember correctly she asked the player to go kill some vampires because she dont like them .. i think there was also another daedra who hates undead... oh and so does Arkay
But Azura does seem like a plausible idea.

In Oblivion, the vampires she had you kill were former followers of her that actually got infected by trying to kill vampires for her. But it does make sense about Dawnguard being connected to Azura.

I knew i was forgetting something.
Personally i think it might be Arkay, Molag-Bal created the Vampires as an insult to Arkay, and i believe in Skyrim the symbol on his shrine was a sun.
But the name Dawnguard does suggest Azura or simply that they're protecting those livin in the sun.

I'd rather serve Arkay though... Considering the sun symbol, Arkay is also possible

Same here. It could be either but I'd rather Arkay as Azura was already featured in Morrowind.

Personally, as my character is a dedicated servant of Azura, I hope they follow her command!

Meridia (The Deadra that my Knight of the Light praises) hates the undead and anything that it stands for. She gives you that one weapon, Dawn something.

Most likely not Azura at all, Meridia most likely.

Meridia despises undead in all forms. She is the deadra of the sun.
More likely to be her.

Azura is dreams, dusk and dawn.

I hope it is him but Azura has a history of getting involved all the damn time, the main quest pointed to her in OB -all though not necessary to go there- , and she was involved in MW.

Meridia that was the one i was trying to remember, her reward in Skyrim was Dawnbreaker, so again its a plausible lead.

Azura has already been done. Like others have said why not Arkay? Or Meridia?

Either Meridia, Arkay or Stendar.
My guess is it's one of the Aedra.

Did you catch in that scene with the dead one-armed guy that he was wearing an Amulet of Stendarr?

I'd be fine with any of those, Arkay, Meridia or Stendarr. Meridia's my favorite Daedric Prince and Arkay and Stendarr are among my top 3 Divines along with Akatosh.

Whatever the case, it would be nice to actually have to serve one of the Daedra. You always have to pledge to serve them and then they never bother to get ahold of you again.

Yeah I actually noticed that. It is certainly is possible that Dawnguards are demon hunters like the other Stendarr followers.

Actually, I'd rather see a Stendarr cult than an Arkay cult. Most of all I want a Talos cult, but I suppose that wouldn't make sense at all.

Yeah, especially since he's not even a real god.

It's either her, Arkay or Meridia. Maybe all three. The dawnguard may be very multicultural, I'm sure the vampires are.

Ahhh damn i hope the Vigil of Stendarr aren't involved much -or the Dawnguard being a similar thing to them-, they really irritated me during SKyrim for some reason.. i seem to of hunted them down in almost every play through.

I actually thought it was sad that we couldn't join them :/

I guess Dawnguard will make up for that though

I know the dawn guard's symbol is suppost to be the sun but it reminds me alot of the star of chaos. Anyway i wanna throw in my bid on Meridia so i can use a offensive restoration kill move where i rip out the undead's hearts.

Well there is more to them that what's in Skyrim now it seems. Going to their 'hangout' now in Skyrim it definitely looks like something that was half finished. There are a few people walking around. Some boss-like person looking over a map who will hardly talk to you. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is where the new quests start.
