The Dragons keep appearing after the MQ

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:51 am

Why is it that after killing Aludin and completing the main quest that dragons keep turning up?
I thought that i had 'solved' the problem by killing Aludin but it seems not.
Have I not done something correctly in the mq?
Is this normal?

In oblivion once you close the 'gate' that's it - no more gates pop up anymore.
Is it because i didn't kill Parthanaux (how ever you spell it), that dragon on the Throat of the World?

Think about it. Any dragons that were resurrected wouldn't simply drop dead because Alduin's gone.

Alduin != all dragons.

The only thing you stopped was the dragon that would eventually become the one to end the world. The other dragons are meant to be his helpers, but they all have their own motives.

werent you told by parthanax that the remaining dragons would go on their way, where ever that may have been.(although i maybe wrong about that) none of your achievements in game have any effect on the world whatsoever.

You are told by Paarthurnax after you return from Sovngarde that there are still dragons about and that he will seek to convince them to follow him but that some may not and would just wander about and do their own thing.

This. It's not that Dragons would stop appearing or all drop dead, you just proved to them that maybe Alduin wasn't strong enough to lead after all. So now Paarthurnax is trying to convince more Dragons to follow his "Way of the Voice", but they're still the dominating, scheming, predators that they always have been, just with out Akatosh's wayward son leading them.

I would love it if no more dragons spawned (except a few that already existed), once the main quest was over.

These words could be a motto for Players of all elder scrolls games. Well said.

Same here. I find it disenfranchising that the game world gets smaller and smaller every time a dragon slays a non-essential NPC and I don't realize it, forfeiting my opportunity to reload without scrapping hours of gameplay.

Its not like dragons can appear anywhere but near you. If a dragon appears in a town save the game and after the dust settles search the settlement for any dead bodies that aren't nameless guards.

I like that they still show up. Haven't got bored of them yet.

You killed Alduin, you stopped the end of the world, but the dragons still remain. However, in Oblivion, you lighted the dragonfires, which sealed the barrier between Tamriel and Oblivion, so no more oblivion gates.

The Dragon thread should diminish and then disappear altogether after the MQ.

Think about, the dragons don't show up until Alduin makes his appearance. The MQ is to eliminate Alduin, so the dragons that he brought in or woke up, should go away too. This makes no logical sense. If Alduin was the source of the dragons, how can more show up when he is gone?

This is the reason I play No MQ now in this game.

Because of Paarthanox..whatever his name is. They can exist with him around to lead them. Now they aren't siding with the player is the illogical part about it too XD.

OK, that is acceptable, kind of.

However, why do we get new ones? The ones left at the end of the MQ, other than named ones and perhaps location specific spawns should appear. However, there should be a finite number of dragons in the game post MQ, not unlimited.

Yeah, because that's not tedious. And I've seen dragons far enough on the horizon that they don't show up on the compass. NPCs that aren't in closed cells are at risk.

Well, the dragons that Alduin bought back to life are obviously still there. But once they are all killed off, they will disappear again. Enjoy them while they last.

Note: I'm talking about after the events of this game. I have no idea why there are unlimited after the MQ?
