The elusive "warnings.txt" file

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 7:02 pm

I am trying to trouble shoot my skrim saves right now, none of them are loading as soon as I load I CTD. In the skyrim.ini file there is a line:
[GeneralWarnings]
SGeneralMasterMismatchWarning=One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on.
Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information.

where can this warnings.txt file be found?

thanks.

Should be a file in the Skyrim install directory in the Steam folder called "Warnings" in a Notebook file.

So the text file is still nowhere to be found, any idea where else it could be?

If it's in not SteamApps/Common/Skyrim try in My Documents/My Games/Skyrim. Take a look in the Data files, just in case.

That is just the text it gives you if you get that error. The INI file simply stores the error text, like for example it'll be in German on the German game.

You don't actually have an error, don't worry.

Thanks for the replies, I am sure that I do have an error, since every single save file I have CTDs when I try to load.

I was tweaking the ini files when this happend, I also updated the drivers on my video card to the latest ones
I also installed a few graphic tweaking mods.
since then I have uninstalled 2 times, removed all my mods - then loaded them one at a time and none of that has helped.
If you guys have any idea what could be wrong please help!

What .ini tweaks are you using?

I went back to all defaults for ini files, I did follow a few guides forums.guru3dcom/showthread.php?t=354301

This shouldn't effect my save files since i couldn't even load once I had made the adjustments.

Not sure if you fixed your problem with your ini tweaking. If not, maybe you are using a mod not finding it's master file. Usually that means that you didn't install another mod that it depend on or that you missed one of the files in the installation, but considering the kind of mods you can find right now (tiny and not totally clean), maybe one of them is referencing to Skyrim.esm, but the reference is corrupted. If you are using Wrye bash this should be easy to check. If not, just try unchecking your mods until you find the one causing problems.
