The end?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 3:44 pm

Okay i just killed the vampire king i forget his name, isran does not have conversation anymore with me? WTF

is that it? I kill him and no more vampire slaying or crossbow upgrades? That is stupid! what a waste of money and a scam of a DLC! no ebony bolts or ebony crossbows nothing just do the 3 main quest and the 6 side quest (throwing # out there for quest not sure how many are really in it) and thats the end of the DLC. the Vampire is crap compared to the werewolf can not even melee as a vampire thats horse [censored] you see that thing you turn into, you basically an ugly mage!

if i am missing something please let me know?

I was under the impression that Dawnguard was gunna be awesome, but [censored] the armor is crap unless you do dawngaurd at lvl 10-15 do not waste your time everything you can make or buy is better, crossbow is crap against any vampire thrall or higher so unless your sneaking do not waste your time!

my ranting might be wrong in some eyes or i might have missed something in my experience, but i do feel 100x better from this little rant! thanks for reading!

Firstly, it's Vampire Lord, not king. He's name is Harkon and he's head of the Volkihar Clan.

When I finished this quest, I also had no further dialogue options with Isran beyond those I had already accessed. I disliked the VL also, but can't say the WW was a massive improvement over the VL. There is much to Dawnguard when you look at it. It seems you missed all the interesting stuff outside of the MQ line in DG.

you guys are telling me i missed something, but not giving me any details on what i missed

i did the fire, frost, and shock bolts quest
killed the vampires in the city and the one against the jarl
did the main quest line

1) am i missing something?
2) something about the main story i did notice?
3) are their more side quest i did not get or something that i was suppose to know that i did not?
4) better armor and weapons that i missed? yes it is cool to have dragon weapons and be able to make arrows, but that is not worth the money, that is something that should have been in from the start.
5) please give me details on what i missed, i stopped the vampire lord, which was a tough fight, but after that everything was over? Serana is a follow cool i like lydia better lol, is the threat of vampires gone now can i still do quest for the dawnguard can i make better bolts and crossbows that i do not know about? like please give me some incite on this please!

You missed areas, sidequests and alot of unique stuff because you rushed through the DLC just the same as you probably did for the main game only caring for your damage and armor rating and then coming here to complain about the bad storyline or lack of content. (by content i mean shiny 300 base damage warhammer with 100% paralyze enchantment)

You didn't even listen to the dialogue when Harkon tells you how to melee, if you followed volkihar side, that is. Otherwise, you didn't even have the curiosity to press a key....

For your questions
1)Yes
2)Yes
3)Yes
4)No
5)Explore, no, no, wiki

Please tell me you did the quest to find Auriel's bow? That adds a HUGE area and hours of game play. What about Lost to the Ages quest? And how about the Soul Cairn and everything? How can you say that this DLC is crap and didn't give you anything, when it adds so much to the game. I just loved Darkfall Cave and the Forgotten Vale.

I agree with the above.

To be fair, I can see where you are coming from, but other then saying "I've completed the Main Quest, and now what?", you've not really told us what you have/haven't done. Are you after a guide, an idea or someone to play the game for you?

Without looking it up, I can think of several quests, unique items, locations and characters you've probably missed as well as easter eggs etc.

Edit: Well above +1 now but I also agree with the now above as some of that (such as Lost to the Ages) is what I was referring to ;)

once again i stated my rant might be wrong, but it makes me feel better!
i am not saying that the story svcked, i am saying that we dont get anything good out of it

i did not rush through the content, i did due the bow quest also, my complaint is that after the storyline is over, it ends, no more quest nothing.
i think we should have been able to make crossbows in other metals, like ebony glass, etc and bolts in those metals aswell

you guys are not reading what i am saying, i understand the story was good and it was fun i loved it, im upset it just ends, nothing else to it
but you guys are still failing to tell me what i missed, why does it just end, why is their no other crossbows i can get, etc?

You can continue to do side-quests for the Dawnguard or the Court ad nauseum. Serana is available as a follower after the DGMQ is done. The (upgraded/improved? I can't remember the word they use) Dwarven crossbow is the last one - I was a little disappointed with this too until I improved it at a grindstone and found its doing 72 points of damage per shot. You can make Steel and Dwarven bolts with fire, frost, and shock versions of all.

You have a faction that never runs out of quests although the MQ is over. Go kill some vampires! (or Dawnguards!)

Edit: I just realized this should probably be in the Spoilers section.

What did you make of the aethrial thingy quest? conjurable horse quest? new word walls? new unique items? even if don't count quests, there are some things that are just worth to do/see

i am saying that we dont get anything good out of it

Thank god, because it's part of the main quest ya know

new word walls, thats neat, but the only one i seen was the summon the dragon from the purple place where serna mom was, which we could already shout a dragon before the dlc. and the horse who cares, i cant get any horse to do the job conjuring/summoning one does nothing for me. so what new shouts did we get besides that one?

anything good, as in we did not get anything. the only thing i can say was awesome is a perk tree for werewolves and vampires, but other than that what did we get? more quest thats cool, but when its over its over so nothing special, no new area to explore, as in the new DLC coming out is giving us a new area, not just extra towns and places already in skyrim. in reality no new weapons, just weapons we should have gotten from the start (dragon weapons and arrow smithing)

and for crossbows, that was one of the big things in the DLC crossbows and they svcked, and are limited in the abilty to make better ones. for example as stated above why can i not make a glass crossbow with glass bolts with fire explosion? this is what i mean as they were being cheap and lazy and should have added those in but didnt.

and saying that i did the Main story and didnt rush through it and saying i did the bow quest was answering other post, not so you can say congrats it is part of the main story, just so you know. but even the bow with the new arrows they svck even against vampires they do crap dmg.

so what i am saying, is this was a small DLC like hearthfire and should have been 5$ aswell considering they did not give us anything but another story. nothing in that DLC made the game better or more enjoyable than it already is.

i am on xbox so i have no Mods. and if you are on PC no reason to even answer any threads because you can change anything you want so no reason to complain about anything and can sit their and pick everyone apart that does not have mods and complains about the faults that hurt the gaming experience or how bethesda was lazy in certain aspects.

finally in no way am i saying Skyrim or Bethesda are horrible, i enjoy their games and enjoy playing skyrim, but i do not enjoy wasting my money on DLC/PLC. and my biggest problem with DG is that most of it should have been in their from the start, and a new story to play is worth 5$ at the most and if they are gunna charge more they could have gave us something new and exciting. Also even in the new expansion spears, those should have been in from the start also, but bethesda got lazy and didnt care about us, and was just thinking about money. By thinking, "what can we not put in the game now, so we can charge them later in DLC to get more money."

Dawnguard added a lot of new features such as the ability to smith arrows that I cant do without anymore.
New enemies, new areas, new spells etc.

You should try doing the misc. quest Lost to the Ages that Dawnguard added.
Its arguably the best misc. quest in the game and has a great story as well as interesting mechanics and a good reward.

You should also try summoning that dragon as he teaches you a nifty new shout.

Really don't want to cut your quote down to answer one bit, but... I also play on xbox, and, as i've stated, did find DG to be smaller then expected, but it has so much more to it then HF so is defo worth more then $5 (or £16 as it was for us UK players).

my question is though what did it have in it besides the things we should have gotten from the start. like dragon weapons and arrow smithing are things we should have gotten from the start, and a fwe others but i am not gunna make a long post again

we really only got a new storyline and crossbows (which are cheap considering they svck and cant make glass ebony dragon crossbows)

The Dawnguard have only just re-discovered how to make steel crossbows and bolts. Their techs need time to experiment with other materials before they can hand out the schematics. As for Dwarven crossbows, you may find the schematics for them, and that does help in their construction, but there were fully built and operational examples attached to Dwarven Spheres. Also, you say they svck? Steel crossbow has the same base damage as the Daedric bow. Dwarven crossbow is higher that even that. They do use your Archery skill and perks, so maybe a low Archery skill is why they seem so lack luster.

The reason that Dragonbone weapons were not in the vanilla was that, while bone armor is able to stop blows from hitting the body, bone weapons aren't really able to hold an edge, not before their fossilized anyway (then they would technically be considered stone, not bone). They were trying for some realism there. Games like this need a fine balance of realism and fantasy to be truly immersive and believable.

Summoning Durnehviir is not the same as summoning Odahviing. Odahviing simply flies around, using Fire Breath, sometimes landing to melee and bite. Durnehviir uses Frost Breath, teaches you the Soul Tear shout one word at a time, uses a unique shout to summon 3 Bonemen to help you, and is spawned like a conjuration summon, i.e. where you are pointing. You are able to summon Durnehviir inside caves and the like, if it is large enough. He just wont be able to fly.

They set themselves the deadline of 11/11/11. Yes, it feels a little rushed, with some things being untested or left out (arrow smithing, I agree should have been in vanilla). Do I wish they delayed? Yes and no. Yes because some things that were patched would have been fixed before release. No because I would have had to wait longer to play it. Honestly, if you were not sure if it was worth your $20 (or whatever), they you could have read some stuff online (risking spoilers), and waited for it to go on sale. They all do eventually. And finally, yes. It is all about the profit. This is the world we live in nowadays.

How did you even manage to miss all those shouts? the only one you found was the one you were basically forced to?
New area? Forgotten Vale and Soul Cairn. If you take it like that, you will aso be disappointed by Dragonborn
Once again, crossbbows are not the main focus of this DLC
The "bow quest" IS part of the main story, you are also forced to find it

You missed like 6 or 7 unique weapons and armor, and a very nice side quest.
Really, all you did was play through the main quest and get a new weapons set and crossbows; you can find so much more just by reading a book.
