The Evil Dead Returns! How Did I Not Know!?!

Post » Sat Jul 13, 2013 5:14 pm

Anybody remember those old late 1980s - early 1990s movies? The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness? Well. I just learned today that a new reboot movie called Evil Dead was in theaters April and now coming out to DVD/Blu-Ray in July. This movie taking place about 30 years after the others...

Just saying, I only watched Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness but gotta say... They are within the top 5 funniest movies for me so when I heard about this reboot, I was like... What? How did I miss? Eh... Anyways...

Anybody else missed this or did ya manage to check out this reboot?

Yeah, I heard about it, personally I don't care to see it.

I've seen a bunch of zombie flicks in my day, and I have to say that my personal favorite is The Walking Dead. IMO that is dead done right. Funny things is that the first time I watched TWD I went in skeptical, I went in thinking, "Oh great another crappy half assed zombie flick that'll come across as cheesy". I'm glad I was wrong about it.

Considering I've seen The Evil Dead, I'm not really interested in a remake or reboot. Sometimes the best thing you can do is leave things in the past. Sometimes they are best left there.

I recently saw it, and it was pretty good. Very violent and gory, but still a lot of fun.

I am a big fan of the original movies, and not a fan of remakes... but this one was decent. They told their own story, while still retaining some of feel of the originals.
It also has some great homages to the originals.

They mention that the sequel to this reboot will involve Ash's return apparently. Actually, I looked it up and after the credits of this reboot, a much older Ash (Bruce is actually being him again... Just been a long time) was on screen and said "groovy" to the audience.

The Evil Dead has nothing to do with zombies. It is about demonic spirits and such. The only 'undead' things would be the skeletons in Army of Darkness. Also, these movies are mostly comedy... Not flicks.

I normally like remakes as long it isn't a total remake. This isn't a total remake. This is a reboot and continuation.

They might in the sequel of this new Evil Dead. Apparently they have plans of bringing Ash back and apparently Bruce is gonna be 'older Ash'.

Note: Sorry for double posting.

well the first one was straight gore giallo

the second one was kitsch and if you ask me more funny than army of darkness

army of darkness was a blast because of its one liners and comic book poses

and yes a comparison of ash to elvis does not require that many digits

hope they reboot it cant think of an actor that could play ash though including bruce campbell he is too old for it what the heck I would still like to see him try if not him who can go from hapless sap to hero in 3 movies I mean pull it of realistically from kitsch to super bad christoph mintz plasse what do you think
