I've played all 5 main TES games. I see no retcons or lore screw ups here. Fully fits the lore even. It's not like there's never ever been examples of these races or factions within them working with other races. Plus unlike say Fallout lore I wouldn't take even half the lore as truth as that's how it's made. Lies, differing opinions, etc. abound. Yes it also gives leeway to devs. Something every RPG franchise maker has utilized. Not to mentiom BGS is only slightly involved with this, their not even making the game. Another Zenimax/Bethesda Softworks internal studio is. And speaking of leeways, que how this is set 1,000 years before TES V.
If your looking for a bag full of retcons it was Daggerfall to Morrowind.
Of coarse in a smaller scale you could say that about Fallout 2, and add what I quoted of you to also appy to it.
So are you equating Elder Scrolls Online to Fallout 2?!?!?!? ARE YOU?!?
(Sarcasm)
But no I see no issues. Also...the point of any Entertainment product made is to be sold and made a profit upon. RPG video games included. Not to mention it's been in production for either at or over half a decade.
At this rate Van Buren would of been more of a cash in than this.
You seem to have mistaken me for a hardcoe Fallout fan when I'm actually just some guy who played Bethesda games and loved them until Obsidian showed me something better.
I suppose I COULD bother to defend Fallout (which I bet I could) but honestly I don't care. I'm focused on the fact that I'm convinced TES is currently being written by a team of Bonobo apes.
Anyways, no retconning in TES? Are you serious?

Listen, you could TECHNICALLY argue no lore is being broken here, but it's still awkward as hell. Like we're literally talking about races going from being enemies to being allies to being enemies again in a very short period of time, with the future generations of these races referring to the hate between them and others as if it has always been.
That's still sloppy. More importantly, it's frustrating to fans because we can't rely on a single damn thing that's said. One day they tell us Redguard hate magic, the next, they're in like third or fourth place for utilizing magic the most. Why bother learning the lore if they're not gonna take it serious?
And that's the point I'm at, really. I mean, if I took a history exam on the American revolution and then got a D because the teacher failed to mention that in the middle of the Revolution, the Americans and the British teamed up to kill Mars, God of War, then yes I'm gonna be pretty ticked that she failed to mention that.
