Is the Favorites menu bugged?

Is the (Q by default) favorites menu bugged? Or am I just a noob? I set items to favorite and hit Q endlessly to no avail.

Maybe I'm also just being stupid, but I can't access the favorites or set any hotkeys. I also can't tell if the on-screen help is displaying my key bindings or the default keys.

I know it's being said everywhere else, but it seems like what I could accomplish with 4 clicks in morrowind takes about 23 key presses in skyrim. Yup, another interface complaint.

Just so we are on the same page, not calling you stupid or anything, just checking, k?

You go into the menu using tab, select items menu(or hit I for items menu). You then find a shiny sword and highlight it, then hit f while it's highlighted. There will be a small mark next to it, not the big equipped mark. Exit the menu, then hit q. Favorite menu appears in the left corner.

That's what you are doing

To set hotkeys you must first put items to hotkey into the favorite menu. Exit main items menu and go into the favorite menu(hitting q). Highlight the item you want to hotkey, and select 1-9 to hotkey it to one of the numbers.

I'm starting to think that things just don't work with custom key bindings. I have my inventory mapped to 'F', if I'm in the item menu and highlight an item the on-screen help says 'F' to set favorites, if I hit 'F' the menu closes without setting anything. I have my favorites menu mapped to 'alt'. Pressing 'alt' doesn't do anything. Anywhere. I assume if you have a item or spell highlighted in a menu then pressing 1-8 should set it as a hotkey, but that doesn't do anything at all either. I'll try resetting to the default keys and see if that works.

Well I guess that's my hotkey problem, I can't even access the favorites menu.

Same here. I also noticed that while I can change my key bindings, the tooltips do not change. For example, I changed my F key to be Sheathe and Unsheathe. In the menus, the F key became the drop key, even though it says F is the Favorites key and R is the drop key.
Regardless, R does NOT move any items to favorite, and Q does absolutely nothing.

Sad face.

Try hitting I to set favorites. I changed keys and it works fine, but I didn't mess with f or e or q. Also when you change a key, like you did with f, it will still prompt you to use the old key but ignore it and use the keys you mapped, it doesn't update to show what you have changed.

Also if you change a key to a key already used, the game replaces the key with what the action was you changed. So I changed sprint to shift. Shift was run. Sprint was alt. Now that sprint is shift the game automatically changed run to alt.

It was just an issue with the key-mapping and the UI showing the defaults. Apparently your 'Toggle POV' button will set your favorites. This is a mess. I remapped to my custom keys again and I can set my favorites now, but when I use my mapped 'alt' button to open my favorites menu I can't use 'alt' to close it again. You also can't go between quick menus directly, you have to close the menu to open up another one.
