So the Fear (and banish) enchantment....

Post » Sun Jan 13, 2013 4:53 am

I've never really used it much on any weapons I've enchanted, is it worthwile or is it pretty much "I hit you and now I have to chase you", or more like it doesn't work on a lot of enemies. Also, it seems like the Banish enchantment isn't worth it, does it work on Atronachs?

So is Fear useful? What about other ones like Banish and Turn Undead? Anyone had any experience with those. My current weapon has a low absorb stamina and a high damage magicka and I'm not that impressed with it, and refuse to use anything OP like Paralyze.

Turn Undead seems useful. Banish, as far as I can tell, only damages the enemy. It doesn't do anything.

Daedras, undead, and machines aren't affected by any Illusion enchantment or spells (such as fear), unless you invested in the final functional Illusion perk.

Banish enchantments works well only up to Frost Atronachs. Even my vampire necromage build, even with maximized buffs in Conjuration wasn't manage to banish a Storm Atronachs, can only damage them.

Turn Undead enchantment can receive enormous buff if you have necromage, but normally it svcks, even with all Enchanting perks. I think you can get up to Scourge to turn tails, only sparsely a weaker Deathlord, but usually not before other Deathlords hand you your collective ass on a plater.

It's better if you just specialize in the schools of magic. They have proper buffs and even AOE.

Banish is useful for selling items because it makes iron daggers with around 1500 gold

I never use fear enchantment because I dont like chasing down my enemies but I can definetily see use for an enchanted dagger when making a more passive build or when being being attacked by multiple enemies. But chances are if an enemy is weak enough to be affected by a fear dagger then I could probably take them out in a couple hits.

My current character is not a mage-type, except for restoration. Maybe I could use the fear enchantment and then use turn undead spells?

Do the illusion perks for affecting higher level creatures effect the fear weapon enchantment?
