The Forgotten Vale

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 12:18 am

So I've seen a lot of people say that this place is the most breathtaking place in all of Skyrim. Even better than Blackreach. Just how legendary is it? How big is it and how magestic is the vista?

Look thru the Dawnguard screenshots. There are some excellent pics there.

It's beautiful. There are some spots that offer you a fantastic visage of a winter-wonderland like no other.

Blackreach was neat, but I'd never want to willingly go back there.
The Forgotten Vale is somewhere I'd love to have a player home, if one were available. I might have to get it on PC just so I can put one up there. :D

See! I already own and play Skyrim+Dawnguard on Xbox360, and I'm seriously thinking about dropping another 20$ so I can put up my own player house on the PC...

...its that beautiful.

Not just the vale, but the side places also. I love Deep Drop Falls, which I actually found by dropping through a hole...

Explore some of the side caves and such in the Forgotten Vale.

There's a ton of untapped wonder that this Vampire didn't think was there on his first trip through the Vale.

Just take your time and explore it thoroughly, you'll see why everyone is raving about it. :)

Due to the open sky above you instead of a cave like blackreach, the Vale just seems large by scale. I entered it at dawn in game and it was sunset by the time I had reached the other side. I also doubt I found everything and I plan on going back and exploring more. Its just a beautiful winter landscape with a lot of hidden secrets and things that would love to kill you.

That was a long drop also. I was actually expecting my character to go splat. Surprisingly my follower (the Lioness) dropped in after me.

I've spent a lot of time in both places. They both have their merits, truly, but the Vale embodies everything that I love about Skyrim: mystery, danger, exploration, lore. It's all amazing.

My absolute favorite Player Home Mod is Castle Vjarkell it puts a rather impressive potential player owned castle on a cliff overlooking the area the twin dragons pop out of. Im currently roleplaying that it's where serana and veyalia retire to when they want seclusion

Really? My followers don't jump in after me. I was actually a little surprised by that. When I took the plunge in Arkngthamz Faendal jumped right along. I would have thought Dead Drop would be a breeze compared to that.

It's amazing. The easiest way to describe it is Bethesda doing what Bethesda does best.

Best part of the DLC imo. made up for a lot of the tedium.

I'm not the only one then... >_>

The Forgotten Vale is beautiful, but I never really explored it as I was busy questing, one day I shall amend that error, if only to get the shield ;)

Serana said something like: "Next time will you stay away from the waterfall, like I warned you?"

You do, but the quest doesn't force you to explore the place in its entirety. It really is quite beautiful. Best part of the DLC.

Forgotten Vale would be better if the Compass Pointers work properly. Point to where you have to go.

I notice that this is a general issue with Dawngard, having quests with no quest-pointer in the compass.

Also, it would be wonderful :whisper: if someone created a map JUST for the Forgotten Vale with ALL locations (Paragon Portals, Frost Giants, exits, etc).

I can see from these forums that I'm not the only one having trouble finding where to go.

Where are ALL the Frost Giants located :(

So far I've found only the one in the valley of the Wayshrine of Resolution.

I actually thought that was bethesda giving in to all the people that whined about Skyirm holding your hand for every quest. Which was why I loved the Aetherium Forge quest. No markers, just deductive reasoning (and a badly drawn picture :D)

Yeah, I kind of preferred how they did the quest markers for Dawnguard. Sure, it was frustrating at times, but it did make me pay closer attention as well.
