The game isn't picking up the correct microphone. Whatdo?

So, I've been fooling around with my VOIP settings for the past few days, now that I've managed to figure out a way to actually play multiplayer and, while I can hear others fine, others cannot hear me at all. I figured that my microphone volume was turned way down in Windows, so I fiddled with that for a while. I discovered that there were, indeed, two seperate microphones in my sound input category.

After I figured out that the default one wasn't my actual mic, I disabled it and set my USB microphone to being default, and turned it to maximum volume. I tabbed back into game, and to my dismay, people still couldn't hear me whenever I held down my push to talk button. I started to wonder, and I turned off push-to-talk and starting tapping my microphone.

Nothing.

Apparently, the game isn't recognizing my sound input device. I haven't tried restarting the game (it should hopefully notice a new default sound input device), and I would have midway through this post except that I'm writing in via Steam's ingame browser.

Two questions:
In the offchance that the game doesn't notice the new windows default sound input device, how do I force it to use my microphone for sound input? (Console line command or other manual method, please do share.)

Also, why are there no options in the game options for device management uses, ie, manually selecting which keyboard/mouse/sound output/sound input devices to channel through? I'm very sure the first one had options for all of this. And no, I don't want an answer of "LULZ CONSOLE PORT". I want an actual answer here.

Thank you.

I restarted the game and lo and behold, it's still not detecting my microphone. Any idea how to force the game to recognize my USB mic?
