I started gaming when I was 5, but I guess the games that got me to stick around were Treyarch's Spiderman game for the N64, Star Wars Pod Racing and some SPiderman game for the Sega Genesis. Once I got Super Mario 64 and 007:Goldeneye a few years later, there was absolutely no going back.

I'd love to have said Oblivion, but really it's going to be Jak 2 for the PS2. I was addicted to that game. I still fire it up every now and then for old time's sake.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizard_of_Wor on the C64. Played other games before this, but this game was the first I got hooked on.

Great game  I actually didn't like the demo at all and was very disappointed as it was from IOI. But then a few years later I saw the game cheap and bought it despite my poor demo experience, and enjoyed it very much and have since then replayed it plenty of times. Great soundtrack too.

Super Mario Bros on the NES, Burger Time on the Intellivision and Age of Empires on the PC.

Edit: I also seem to remember the original Heroes of Might and Magic having an impact.

Man, I loved that game.

I've been gaming for a very long time, started on a C64 and Atari. But what actually got me into gaming as a hobby was D00M in 1993. That was when I realized that it was a hobby I'd never give up.

I think that honour goes to three video games that I got into at around the same time, in 1998 or 1999 I think. Arsenal: Taste the Power (a really good RTS), Flying Corps Gold (WW I flight sim) and Team Apache (Apache helicopter flight sim). I played the occasional video game before that, but those three turned gaming in my leisure activity of choice.

Halo Combat Evolved

I had never had such a fascination for a game before that.

I'm actually relatively new to games.
The first game that capture my heart and mind was Red Dead Redemption.
I had played games before that. Halo 3 i played quite a lot and Oblivion took up a lot of my time, but RDR was the first one that welcomed me into the world of video games.
Its my favourite game in the whole universe.
I cried.
On multiple occasions.

I've been gaming as long as I can remember. Being a rug-rat in diapers cutting my teeth on the likes of Metal Gear Solid 1 or something.

But the game that left it's biggest mark on me is probably Halo Combat Evolved. Halo fan to the core, baby.

Zelda: A Link to the Past on my grandma's SNES when I was like 5 or 6. I had played a few others on her NES, but aLttP is what got me into Ocarina of Time and thus got me my N64.

The first Tomb Raider on my friend's PlayStation when I was 8. That was the moment when I decided I wanted to be gamer when I grow up

I didn't get a proper PC until years later, so I'm kinda a latecomer. I vividly remember my cousing teaching me to play GTA III when I was way too young for such games. There was also Neverwinter Nights demo that made me go "Me want!" for the first time in regard to games. Then came Morrowind and there was no coming back - my childhood plans suceeded, I became a gamer :twirl:
