No they are the same quality as before - they just compressed them using DXT compression which does tend to introduce some artifacts etc. in order to conserve on the texture memory footprint and download file size - Many companies nowadays believe it is an acceptable loss in quality to cut the file size by a factor of 4 for the download and they also decided to not include the original uncompressed imagges on the retail disk as well so it is like using the old High quality setting instead of Ultra. Which in itself would not be very noticeable but they also increased the lighting and changed the FOV default setting so that you get a closer view of the textures which makes them look worse than the originals used to !

Actually the overall graphics are inferior. Graphics doesn't mean just textures, it's everything that makes up what you see, and the BFG Edition took out alot, like strong bullet impacts, and blood splats that made the shooting believable in '04. These are just two things, there's more that's been done for.

On the bright side, the gameplay was made more about action, especially the new missions, so the new fans to Doom will understand that Doom was always really about action, not horror. Of course, for big fans of Doom3, like me, this wasn't such a great thing. Still, it's not a win win, but it's a win.

Inferior ?

Not really imo.
Some models are enhanced and the only thing different is the brightness wich can be easily altered throught the cfg file.

still i wish this game can be modded on par with sikk-mod through opengl.

If PC folks b!tch alot, console folks kiss alot of a$$

It's one thing to complain about 1 thing or another, but there are many things wrong. Of course most of you console gamers won't be bothered, since you don't expect anything better to begin with. At least some ARE bringing up the problems, to make sure they are fixed. It's not a PC thing, it's a common sense thing.

QFT. You win the prize.

Holy hell what a day it would be if console gamers saw the power of a PC
