So the graphics will be similar to Guild WarsThe Old Republi

and I'm guessing that means it'll probably be in third-person, not first-person?

Uh. Not sure where you pulling GW2 from. They use their own engine. TOR and TESO will share an engine, but that doesn't mean everything about them aside from the actual content will be identical.

Rift and Oblivion use the same engine, and look at them.

No, different artists.

I'm just a little skeptical in believing it'll be in first person while at the same time using the Hero Engine.

And obviously I wasn't speaking in relation to the art style.

Eh, I prefer third person in an MMO.

I prefer first person in The Elder Scrolls game. If you remove first person view from The Elder Scrolls game, despite a MMO or not, what do you have then? Dragon Age 2?

please link the confirmation, every TES game has been first person, if we are forced to play this in third, i completely agree, i wont follow this development and will not buy this product. First time ever i wont be buying something with TES on it, if it's true.

I hope I will feel that I am in the Elder Scrolls universe when I play this game. If not, then they have failed us.

Yes. Ive seen the screenshots and there is nothing about the art that stands out from the other MMO's. It looks just like Guildwars/D&D online etc.

I have played every TES game, but if you count the hours I've played MMO's it dwarfs my TES time. So, I guess I am just used to 3rd person. I don't get the, "I MUST HAVE FIRST PERSON!!" attitude.

With third person you can:

See your character fighting/emoting/etc.
See all of your sweet new armor and weapons.
See what is happening BEHIND you (kind of important in a pvp game)

I still feel just as immersed as I do when I play a first person game, but maybe I'm just used to it.

I think you 1st person gamers should at least give it a try for a few hours. Maybe during open beta phase (if there is one.)

No, it does not look like The Old Republic at all. The Old Republic was cartoony at best. After seeing the scans- no, it doesn't look like a single player Elder Scrolls game. It's different hardware, a different team, etc. But the art style is obviously trying to stay to true to the series. I don't play MMO's, so I don't have a lot to compare what it does look like, but yeah. My point is that while TOR's style was offputting to me, TESO's is not.

Your speaking to deaf ears. This is a crowd that doesn't really play MMOs.

However I completely agree with you. Kind of stupid people would immidiately be negative about a game that no one knows anything about.

This being the TES crowd I'm surprised the super "Immersion" kids haven't come yet, seeing as how mmos have 0 of that. They didn't like having a compass on the screen imagine when they have interface flooding with info. an ability quick bar that is completely filled with colorful buttons for their dots and buffs. ;P

From reading the Gameinformer article, I think it will be 3rd person (all 15 screenshots or so were shown in it) and have a WoW-like combat system with automatic hot-key attacks etc that you spam.
I'm not 100 % sure though, but that's what the article sounded like.

I'm disappointed. Having a 1st person real time MMO would be really special.

its got a hotbar, but its not wow combat, fewer abilities on the hotbar and more emphasis to every move, plus active blocking and sprinting, stamina, it seems to be more like guild wars 2, but that's not out yet either so its easier to compare to wow.
also it has group combo moves, they gave an example of a rogue using an oil slick and his mage buddy catching it on fire.

just keep an open mind, im just happy i get to adventure in all of Tamriel again and not want to tear out my eyeballs.

[the colored text is not directed at you HLVR, i know you get what im saying, but there is an idiot a few posts up who wants to argue with me.]

well you can turn the hud off in every mmo i played, and i solo so much in wow its not even funny, rp servers should solve the annoying powergamer crowd. so its capable of being a good roleplaying and immersive experience, but it wont be a sandbox like tes.

Then why did it have to be TES couldn't they have invented their own crap to use?

dont be an @$$, i was being serious.
your entitled to your opinion, but there is room for both games, think of this as an extension of the series.
there were tons of spin offs on the series. redguard, battlespire, shadowkey, the other cellphone games, there was a canceled psp game for oblivion even. so why is an mmo out of the question?

Its not really. The market is already flooded with mmos. Its just an MMO game with some TES lore. Hey as long as it doesn't disrupt the single player TES franchise, you can give them your $15 a month and we can both be happy. :)

the lore. the world.
it has alot of potential.

The butchered lore. The world that they have put in and quartered off as leveling zones with the rest being released later as expansions.
It had a lot of potential before we learned it was 3rd person, hero engine, class based, no housing, no free world.

Fixed that for you.
