The Guards Won't Stop Attacking!

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 9:57 am

I did the Dark Brotherhood quest where you have to kill the Emperor's cousin at her wedding, and now every time I visit Solitude the guards in the castle don't even do anything when I attempt to yield and pay my bounty. None of the guards in the city except the ones in the castle seem to attack me, and I have a quest where I need to enter the castle, but it's impossible if I get attacked by multiple guards plus everyone in the castle every time I enter it. Is this a bug, or are they suppose to attack me on sight without giving me the chance to go to prison or pay my bounty? Please help??

I only killed one person, so it should only be around 1000. I've paid bounties twice that size it Whiterun though..

id say its a bug, i had the same problem on my other save so much so that i reloaded it back to before i killed her in some attempt to kill her with stealth so i diddnt get a bounty, i found this was the only solution, i also found that the only way to kill her without getting caught is by using Runes, preferable shock or Fire, i have lvl 100 Destruction it killed her with 1 shock rune and i had no bounty aslong as you are somwhere hidden when it goes off. but in response to your problem, if you have already paid a bounty in solitude and they still keep attacking you, its most likley that your only solution would be to either reload to an earlier point which svcks i know, OR try and find a way you can talk to the guards, so a command spell might work etc...

Well I can't reload, I killed her about 25 hours ago. So I guess I'll try to use a calm spell.

Also, while staying out of and away from the town for 3 consecutive days try to travel around in the same hold. There is a chance a bounty hunter will show up and offer you a chance to buy off your bounty.

To get guards to stop attacking you need to sheath your weapons. To do this, you need to draw your weapons first. That may strike you as illogical, but that's how it works.

You said you had a bounty?

Try talking to some of the non-hostile guards and pay it off with them

Alternativly use the Theives Guild to deal with you bounty

From personal experience leaving the town for 3 or more days, random questing for the win, the guards no longer attacked but expected me to pay a bounty. Luckily it was a similar amount of roughly 1000 g. No worries though if it becomes a town of haters! I look at it as a character flaw! Makes my character feel more real ya know? lol. :mohawk:
