The Highlander 2

Post » Sun Jul 17, 2011 7:47 pm

google it and read the wiki. basicly, the sequel degraded the plot to macleod and ramiarez (sean connery) are actually aliens from another planet that were exiled after a failed rebellion... or something like that. so yeah, I never watched the television series but I wonder how hard it was for them to pretend that wasn't the lore of that series' world.

I've never seen it. But I think they should have stuck to the original. I also think the series used the same lore as movie number 2 but I can't be 100% sure on that, cause I sort of remember reading that the background changed again for the movie before the series. Regardless I think the whole thing is a bit cheesy. But that awesome kind of cheese.

2 was the weakest of the movies, no doubt about it. I don't remember any mention of that as lore in the other movies or the series, but that might just be my memory.

that movie was, odd, and sean connery was cool in it.

They were from another planet in the future.

the wiki says "ramerez asks macleod to recall an event five hundred years ago" and explains (tries to) the alien rebellion story arc. but who knows, the plot already has holes so why not just toss time bending into the immortal aliens pile.

The Highlander series as a whole seems to have the unique ability to consistently piss off it's fans while maintaining it's fanbase. Every movie after the first was pretty hard to stomach (except maybe the anime) and the series, while it had it's moments, was pretty meh overall. And don't get me started on The Source.

My best friend and I went to see that movie when it came out because of Christopher Lambert. It was so bad that Sean Connery couldn't help it. We were cracking up at the parts where Micheal Ironside's henchmen were chasing the highlander through the city on hover boards.

I figure HIghlander II is to the franchise what vanilla Star Trek Klingons are to TNG. As Mr Worf so elequently put it, " It is not something we discuss with outsiders."

They should have just left it with the original, all the sequels didn't tie in lore wise, it was a mess.
The tv series, however, was awesome, til it jumped the shark.

Any one know what the sound track was? I would never believe Queen would agree to get behind that... although there was flash gorden, but flash gorden was good even if it is the 3rd cheesiest movie I ever saw.

All I heard of it was when it was mentioned in the Nostalgia Critic's review of The Room.

Glad to be of assistance. I don't blame Queen for dodging that one.
