The House of Horrors (Bugged Quest)

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:19 pm

Got the game on the Xbox 360. I went to do this quest, ended up with all my autosaves and all but one (from like two hours after I started playing the other night, a lot was done since then) manual save having me doing this damned quest. The NPC I was with didn't move, killed him and the quest updated to the next stage, which I went and did. Unfortunately when I finished that bit, the door to leave the house had bugged out and become locked, requiring a key to open, so I basically got stuck in the place.

Loading any previous saves leaves me midway through the quest, leaving the atmosphere in the game weirdly coloured and slightly blurred, which, with my own vision problems and OCD makes it pretty much unplayable as well.

Does anyone know of any way I can work around this? Or is there maybe a patch that anyone knows about to fix this? I really don't wanna have to restart on my really early save and do ALL those faction quests all over again..

Follow up: There's a YouTube video documenting the bug, too, which was recorded from a TV with a video camera so I dunno if the blur and odd colouring of the air are particularly visible, but it does show that it's not just one bug in one person's game.

I did the quest on the 360 and everything went fine. If it's bug prone save before entering the house and then reload if the NPC doesnt move.
As for leaving the house, that's not the next thing you're supposed to do in the quest. But if the quest is broken for you you're probably not hearing the voice either

P.S. there might still be a way to salvage your save from inside the house. If you don't mind spoilers let me know and I'll pm you what the quest is about and what the next step is. Maybe the game acts normally again from there.

No, I only heard the voice when I killed the guy, as he didn't move from the first room. I know the door's meant to be locked but going outside and killing the guy were basically the only things I could do.

As I said, though, my previous saves and autosaves, except for one accidental save from two hours in, are all on the quest, so if there's no patch or anything I'll have to restart from almost nothing..

I have progressed further on the quest. I get the voice when I kill the guy, and then I get to go down to the basemant and stuff and get the continuation telling me to go free the guy, but when I go to do so, the front door is locked and requires a key. That's the main problem with the bug.

Oh ok, I thought you were locked into the house before you went to the basemant. If you're still locked after I'm afraid you're screwed.
