Hearthfire inspired me to create a character that was originally intended as a DiD file. I decided to make him a true Roleplay character, which is something I haven't done yet in Skyrim. I am having such an amazing time, so I wanted to dedicate a thread to sharing our experiences.
Now as the title would imply, my guy is a Hunter. All Hunters are welcome here in the Hunter's Rest, but I do not discriminate. Everyone wishing to discuss their Roleplay characters and adventures are more than welcome!
So a little background to kick things off...
My other characters are:
1. Gi'Anna, female Khajiit Warrior, Dragonborn, in the MQ. Lvl 27, 105 hours.
2. Maylissa, female Imperial Cleric, no Faction (uninstalled Dawnguard due to many dead NPCs. ULTIMATE SADFACE BECAUSE SHE WAS DESIGNED FOR DG!), Lvl 16, 35 hours.
3. Conan, male Nord Thief/Warrior, Thieves Guild, Lvl 20, 41 hours.
4. Arkved, male Altmer Mage, College of Winterhold, Lvl 18, 56 hours.
And then there's Luthero, male Bosmer Archer/Hunter. Lvl 13, 21 hours. All of my other characters quest for their specific guilds and have backstories. But when I'm not in the mood to quest with them, wandering aimlessly isn't as much fun. They rarely barter, smith, enchant, make potions, etc.. And rarely do I ever worry about eating, sleeping, clothing, etc. again.
And that's where the beauty of Luthero comes in. He eats breakfast and dinner daily. He sleeps but never past 5:30am, because he needs the daylight hours to hunt and travel. At dusk he seeks shelter and rents rooms and buys his dinner at the Inn. He does not fast travel. He has Smithed a fair portion of Lakeview Manor already. He hunts on his way to and from bartering and sells the hides, pelts, antlers, claws, and other resources he finds. At home he relaxes in clothing, and reads while drinking wine. He's planted flowers in his garden, and just added a Greenhouse. His love of the natural beauty of Skyrim (Read: MY love of the natural beauty of Skyrim) inspires him every time he sets foot out into the world.
Now I know what you're thinking. "So what? I've been playing like this for years in RPGs. Pffft!" But I never have! And it has taken a game that I already love (along with Oblivion and Fallout 3) and somehow made it...more incredible than it already was. The Hearthfire DLC has worked perfectly for this character, giving him so many daily chores and tasks and goals and ambitions that I otherwise ignore with my other characters. I've created my own trade route, from Lakeview to Riverwood, to Whiterun, and back again. I'm also getting into Falkreath more often. It's amazing how much I've done and seen with just this little circuit, and how even this limited section of the world never fails to impress and amaze me.
So that's my little spiel. I have read tales of Hunter, Alchemist, Monk, and other Roleplay builds across this forum and other sites. Yet I never thought to try it, and now I'm so glad that I did.
I hope you found this entertaining if you read it, and I hope you will contribute stories, experiences, opinions, and thoughts of your own. Thanks for reading!
