Is the Ice King to blame?

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 8:31 am

So for those that watch this show. Did you watch the holiday special? What I'm most curious about is this. When you see the Ice King with the crown and his odd transformation if you look out the window behind him you can see the world change with him. So what I want to know is, is the Ice King responsible for the extinction off all humans and the state of OO now?

Nah. As I recall the creator has stated that the world was destroyed by "The Great Mushroom War", which many people assume to be nuclear bombs though given the nature of the show could just as easily involve actual mushrooms. He mentions that the crown says the frost will "save him"; what I think happened is he unknowingly created the Ice Kingdom around himself, and survived the apocalypse through a sort of frozen hibernation.

Oh, I missed the mushroom war thing. I hope they release full season DVDs of it because I really like it.

Well this is a quote from the creator: "after the bombs have fallen and magic has come back into the world". And apparently in some interview with him or something, he said that he will probally never touch the idea, just put in some easter eggs.

I think he means he'll never directly touch on the apocalypse aside from innocent little Easter eggs

Adventure Time. The greatest modern cartoon in existence.

Also, why is Finn one of the last humans, did they ever talk about that?

Wait, what?

The only episode I saw of this was the kid (Finn?) and the dog (Jake?) going through a quest with cryptic poems to get a suit of armor claimed to be very *clicks tounge twice*, then they find of it's lady armor and Finn(?) refuses to wear it.

Not sure if the little kids would have realized how truly sad the episode was, but it seems the Ice King's origin was extremely tragic. Had everything good in his life taken away by the crown, yet it saved his life and keeps him oblivious to all the tragedy that has befallen on him. Other than Finn, he is utterly alone.

Now, he's a prisoner of his mind, hanging on his past existence through a constant need to find his princess. A need he'll never understand, for if he finally realizes the truth, it will utterly crush him.

I think that honour would go to Regular Show.

If you set up the chairs now, you won't have to set them up next time.

Not setting up the chairs next time! Not setting up the chairs next time!

*Starts dancing*

Okay maybe The Regular show rivals Adventure Time. :P Although, John DiMaggio does voice Jake...and he is a boss.

Yes, they did touch upon why Finn is the last human. They thought They all died. But there is that small settlement of humans that don't talk underground that they found.

I also like Regular Show, just not as much as Adventure Time.

True, but it was important for Finn to find another human. He even said during that episode he wasn't the last human anymore.

And yes, I found The Ice King's transformation sad as well. Because like it was stated you could see his descent into madness.

I glad we got to see Ice King's origin story. I'm hoping that were eventually get to see Princess Bubblegum's as well. Considering she's a human/bubblegum hybrid, I'm really interested in seeing how she was created/came about.

Mutants, in a sense.

Or magical beings.

Or interdimensonal beings (lumpy space people and rainicorns, and apparently dogs, since they did have a thousand year war over the Crystal Dimension).

Yes, and Rainicorns are creepy because they eat humans.
