Am I the only one left....

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 3:42 am

So, it looks like despite requests for many things, even including rifle weapons, people aren't asking anymore for what seems to be the most obvious mod wish (at least for me): a mod that allows you to either turn into a dragon or to ride a dragon.
Am I alone in this? It's the one mod I really, reeeeeeeeaally wanna see. Everytime I see one of those awesome dragons in Skyrim, it pains me that all I can do is kill them.

I believe there are mods in production to allow dragon mounting.

Really??? Without the CK even??? Do you have a source???

It's odd that I seem to be the only one who'd be so excited to ride a dragon, like in Oblivion, or even to up the ante and actually become a dragon. I mean, did you look at how awesome those dragon character models are??? Isn't it a waste to just destroy them?

Mmmh hope so. :P If the CK was released, we'd know how much that was possible. What if it's actually impossible technically?

Dragons are lame and should never have been brought to tes series. Lame way to make sales out of eragon, lotr and dnd fanatics...

Dude, dragons have always been an integral part of TES lore. Go read up, then come and talk. :/

I too am looking forward to a turn into a dragon mod, as well as having a small pet dragon, about the size of the dogs/wolves. one to ride would be cool too. :)

It'll happen..

Spoiler
There is already a dragon mounting animation and it animates properly. You mount Odahviing for a specific part of the main quest and it shows the potential for the animations.

What makes you think you're the only person who wants dragons? Because nobody else has posted threads demanding it before the CK has come out?

Also
Dragons are lame and should never have been brought to tes series. Lame way to make sales out of eragon, lotr and dnd fanatics...
No dragons in LoTR, and if you think D&D players are 1. a large enough userbase to pander to to get sales, 2. not going to buy TES games anyway and 3. actually crazy about dragons you don't really know any D&D players.
You'd get far more sales from creepy furries/otherkin by including dragons. You want to hook D&D players, add Aboleths or The Blood War (3e)/Primordial Cults (4e) or one of the interesting things from it.

I would want it.. but it should make everyone want you dead. And they should send armies to try and kill you at your darktower and then I would retaliate by burning down a village whilst gathering my mountains of gold in said tower of DOOM.

Handling the transformation itself will be trivial, since BS did a great job merging all actors (creatures, player, etc) into a single data type, which renders all the tricks used to accomplish transformation, etc unnecessary. Some bugs with SetPlayerRace though that can probably be fixed by pre-storing all skills/attributes in an array. Also the werewolf code will be instrumental, and will be one of the first things that I will take a look at once the CK is out. The more difficult thing would be to mapping landing/takeoff animations, mapping spells, etc. And some sort of backstory to go with it. And balance, and all that stuff.

Oooh, I just spoiled myself something, but.... it's awesome!!!
Spoiler
It almost feels like Bethesda added that dragon-riding moment in the plot just so the animations would be ready to make a rideable dragon mod. Oh woah, if the animations are already there.... I'll get a rideable dragon!! I wonder if the werewolf transformation is also another Bethesda hint to give modders the basis for shapeshifting spells?

Easily done with the werewolf code. Probably even a separate bounty system to boot. s/beast/dragon/g in dialogs.

Think this is the 3rd dragon related post that I replied to. Or 4th. So definitely not the first.

As for transformation animations, well... might want to take a look at Divinity II (also Gamebryo BTW), which is horrible in every way aside from the dragon transforming part (great aesthetics, horrible gameplay mechanics). Ideally have it work in mid-air for extra coolness factor.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the is a dragon in LOTR. have you ever read The Hobbit? It is also mentioned in at least one of the other books and movies. Not trying to start an arguement, just stating a fact. : )

True, but in the "Trilogy" (Fellowship, Two Towers, RotK), there were no dragons (that I am aware of). At least, none with any significance to the plot. I assume that is what S/He meant when S/He said "LotR".

Yea, there you are correct. I think its only mentioned in The Fellowship of the Ring, outside of The Hobbit. (Unless you count the firework dragon that is, haha.)

Er, his argument was that Beth had added Dragons for the mass appeal, trying to piggyback off LotR fans. Fans of the LotR films are the ones they'd be trying to recruit then, not diehard fans of the books; that's a much smaller crowd.

No you're not the only one.

Will for sure return in Skyrim.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't planned for a DLC.
