Am I the only one who sees the Imperials as the GOOD GUYS? 2

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 9:49 pm

Seriously, I did the Stormcloak line first, thinking "why should I help the Imperials when they tried to lop my head off?", though after attacking Whiterun and listening to what the Jarl had to say, my view of the Stormcloaks shifted. I play a Redguard and it struck me that the Stormcloaks, though they may have some right, are a bunch of racists douchebags who want Skyrim back for themselves just so they can continue long-dead traditions and get all non-Nordic races out of their nation. Seriously, at least the Empire makes the world a better place for everyone. If you talk to the people of Whiterun after the Stormcloak dictation, you discover that everyone, even the Nords, preferred the Empire too.

TL;DR, Stormcloaks are racist bastards who care about nothing but themselves.

Made part 2 for you. :)

Kinda agree, while some parts of the Empire went a bit too far I believe that the Stormcloaks had ever right to do what they did, but they went too far!

For the Empire!

Joke lol, Empire quest I did in that cave stressed me [censored] out when I was trying to open the claw door and I didn't even have the claw at any point.

Unless you're a Talos worshiper. Or a guy who walk near borders.

Racism svcks, but the Empire doesn't care about the lives of its own people in the least.

Yeah, I thought the stormcloaks were doing good too at first, but back then I thought they just wanted the Empire out, not EVERYONE.

So, I'll go to the Empire after I've done most of the Questlines. :tes:

If the Stormcloak are the Nord supremacists then the Thalmor are Elven supremacists. Neither one is better then the other, the Empire is just a puppet.

I haven't played through either line yet, but the General seems like kind of an SOB to me. I just didn't see myself reporting to him the whole quest line, so I'm going to try the Stormcloaks first. Bethesda seems to think that they have to have all the factions in the game as grey as in real life. Playing as a hero, it's hard to know who to side with. In New Vegas, all the factions are pretty black. In Oblivion I didn't finish the shattered add-in because I didn't think I could do it as a "hero." I don't personally think it would be so wrong to have a "good" faction, or at least a "good" path you could take if you want to.

It's one thing not to make people play heroically, but it's another not to allow them to.

i think that beth maybe took a step too far with the whole "world war" thing,

honestly ww1 was called "the great war"

please dont troll me, i understand that beth is american but i find that useing the name "the great war" ethically pretty unfair, since loads of people died in my country fighting in ww1...

i dunno, it just seems wrong, asd if we are disrespecting the people who died back then :/

luckly i did read the wiki page on the "great war" ,

what an amzing new piece of lore!

i find it hard to belive that a couple of stuck up elves ( ^_^ ) could smash the empire back i nthe days of the oblivion guards....they had amazing instant wifi in cyrodill...;)

a lot of ppl have ocmp[lained about how dark skyrim is, but i find the mood, the tension and the general conflict facinateing to watch and to take part in,

unlke in cyrodill, their is no real "good guy faction" ,
the stormclaks are sorta racist- got some major internal issues aswell
the legion is corrupted andi n the thalmores pockets though...

then theres the companions....enough said

the "mages guild" ( im so old school) is prehaps the least "evil"

however beth definantly got the whole "reality check" bit right, there are no good guys in this game

I can see why you would think that, but don't forget that it was only called that until 1939. Also, quite a few other wars have been called The Great War.

Just remember, the Stormcloaks are only NORD friendly. They are pretty much Nazis in their opinions about other races, especially the Dunmer. Neither side is really "good" in this game, but the Imperials are put under much better light then the Thalmor or the Stormcloaks whom are seen doing "purges" among other things.

Supremacists? The Thalmor just want Elven Self-Determination, and that's something those Nords can't stand. Though the Alessian Order is thankfully long dead, it's anti-elven policies reflect the way that some Nords think things should 'really be'. Those who believe this are almost universally devout followers of Talos, because he is a "human" god.

Members of my family were killed in WW1. My great grandad was injured at the battle of the somme and taken prisoner, my other great grandad was a radio operater in the trenches. The fact it is called "the great war" doesnt bother me one bit, and i doubt it would have bothered them.

I remember going to the main Stormcloak city on the intent of joining them. I was playing a Redguard from Hammerfell so naturally I hated the Empire. But then I saw how they treated the Dark elves. I left the city realising that I was wrong. The empire was right. I knew from my reading thet the empire was biding its time for war. Waiting to be at full strength again.
From my experience the stormcloaks are evil. They are racist. I can't stand them and was glad that I took them out.
Now I just kill the Thalmor at their embassy. That's always fun

Get over it! No one's forgotten what's happened. That doesn't make term "Nazi" or any attempt at an anology f***ing off limits! You people drive me insane with that B.S.!!!

I'm pretty sure Bethesda wasn't trying to piss on the memory of the soldiers who gave their lives during the First World War, though I understand how you may feel this way.

There have been plenty of sci-fi/fantasy stories that used the phrase "The Great War" or "World War" without trying to mock the First World War.
