The Outsider, release date general questions

Post » Mon Sep 17, 2012 6:27 am

Hello, I am new to this forum and I was just in a few threads with people saying the Outsider, who is he? Is he the person who marks you? Is there a story behind him and how he gives you the powers. Also is Dishonored released in three weeks. Sorry for all the questions.

The Outsider is going to be the biggest mystery in the game. He/it's described as the source of all supernatural occurrences, appearing only before people who have the potential to influence the world's development and granting them powers. However, he is a totally neutral entity and does not judge the users, acting as more of a spectator.

The Outsider visits Corvo while he's in prison and helps him escape.

Not everything will be revealed about the Outsider.

Yes, he will give you your powers by marking you.

He plays a very big part in the game and his presence lasts throughout the whole game.

Spoiler
You get to meet with him after the first segment of the game where he gives you the Blink ability in your dream. Afterwards you will meet him by finding his shrines scattered around the game and he will comment on your actions, if you decided to be more chaotic or less.

Nah you didn't miss out on a lot. If you've been following online previews than you should know about the same level as everyone else. Anyway the GI issue just covered parts of the beginning of the game, I can go into more detail if you like, just pm me.

It was a vague description about the first segment and then the prison level. There was no mention of the torture scene or how you can through the tunnels and the other areas. The screenshots and trailers show more than the preview does, both for the prison and the opening sequence where the Empress is assassinated. However, some powers were given bigger detail as to what their level upgrades do. It was the first source that told us Dark Vision also shows the sound you are emitting once it is leveled. And that Time Bend at level 1 doesn't stop security devices like the Wall of Light from activating or guards noticing you if you move in front of them. The second level is Time Freeze which completely stops time and with it removing the negatives of Time Bend.
