The Patch got released.

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 10:46 pm

I finished preloading the game on Steam more than 7 hours ago.

Suddenly right now a couple of minutes ago there was an update of 2.8MB to "Skyrim"

I assume it was the patch which was supposed to be released for all platforms?

Yeah, got it to. Awesome 2.8 MB. I wonder what it'll fix as it's so small.

That's cool.

For some reason, I wasn't even sure they would patch encrypted files. I figured they'd wait until after the decryption to do it. In retrospect, it makes more sense that they would.

Yep, something tells me that can't be the one they are talking about as a day 1 patch, that just affects the installer.
(unless of course the same installer is used on Xbox, PS3 and PC)

dotnetfx35setup.exe (2891kb)
skyrim content.ncf (595kb)
skyrim english.ncf (179kb)
installscript.vdf (2kb)

Cant really tell anything from that other than the majority is a Microsoft update!

That really is a small patch. I wonder if the patch was actually *applied*, or just downloaded, and will be automatically applied after installation (The presence of installers for various windows system componets - Visual C Runtime, DirectX, Dotnet_FX, etc strongly, strongly suggests to me that when the game is unlocked, the first time you click play an "installation" process is going to run). It might just be that they've pre-loaded the patch, will install the game on Friday, then immediately apply the patch before launching the main skyrim.exe.

BTW, .ncf extension is property of Valve. Files that use the .ncf file extension (there are 2 in the "patch") are used by Steam to copy all the contents of a game to the hard drive.

They were just adding some tweaks to fix the secret companion you can find in the hidden dungeon of Minsk.
Apparently they had problems with his "eye gouging" finisher animations.
