The Pitt CTD

Post » Mon Oct 05, 2015 7:11 pm

Just replaying FO3 while waiting for FO4, but I'm stuck with an annoying CTD in The Pitt.

Game's playing fine (GOTY version), running smooth and with very few crashes. Except when I return from the Steel Ingots mission at The Mill, the game crashes when I return from the Abandoned Area trying to enter the Mill. I actually made it into the Mill, but then it crashed when exiting to Downtown. It also crashes when I try to save.

I've hunted all the Interwebs and this forum and taken the recommended steps (downloaded d3d9.dll and made ini changes), but nothing has changed.

Mods:

Error Corrections - Reduce CTD
FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition
FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition - 6.03 HOTFIX
FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition - Part 2 Assets
Hi-Res Weapons v3
NMCs_Texture_Pack_for_FO3

Weapon Mod Kits - WMK Mothership Zeta Compatibility Patch
Weapon Mod Kits - WMK Operation Anchorage Compatibility Patch
Weapon Mod Kits - WMK Point Lookout Compatibility Patch

Plus a merged patch.

I've seen people post in various places about this specific crash, but no actual solution. Any ideas?

It could be mod related the crash.

You can try launching the game save with no mods and see if it still crashes just do not overwrite the game save or use an autosave.

I don't think so. I can't save anywhere inside the Mill and it only crashes if I try to enter Downtown. If I stay out in the yard there are no problems.

Maybe try a new game with no mods and head straight to the Pitt. It might take some time to get to your location in the Pitt story line.

Yeah, I don't really wanna start over, it's just a quick playthrough before 4 comes out. I've definitely seen other people have this exact problem, just not a clear cut solution to it.
