Smoke a pack of cigarettes. Join the military, sign up for the draft, vote in the next election (lol), go to an advlt bookstore, have six with someone.
Celebrate the easiest part of your life is over by getting a 9-5 and bills! Hooray!
Your privileges are:
Full accountability for your actions
The ability to enter into any contract, no matter how stupid and unfavorable the contract may be, with just signing a piece of paper
Enlistment in the selected service (if you're a male)
The right to vote
serving on a jury (if you have a driver's license or register to vote)
Filing as independent on your taxes
Take a walk for the entire day and enjoy life before you get bombarded with the cluster [censored] of responsibilities that come with being an advlt (not that I'd know first-hand, thankfully).
But don't smoke. That's bad for you.
Parents can't tell you what to do.
You can buy and drink alcohol (possibly)
Especially when you still live under their roof and don't pay the bills, hmm?
I didn't do anything in particular to celebrate turning 18, it was birthday like any other. Well, we invited some family and we don't normally do it, but that's it. I spent the evening with my friends and they gave me their crazy gifts: the sort you can expect when you turn 18 and a few incredibly weird things. We sat on the beach until sunset.
I never understood why everyone makes such a big deal of being able to legally buy alcohol.
Because it makes life that much more tolerable.
We didn't have a problem with acquiring alcohol before turning 18, so it changed absolutely nothing. People just felt better when they could openly walk into the store and buy it - did they love getting carded!
Being able to get a driver's licence is much more useful, but most of you can do it earlier.
The things some people say here are [censored] O.o....
I feel bad for you if you had to wait until you're an advlt to look at porm.
Being 18 means that you have to take responsibility for all the consequences of your actions. I never did any privileges stuff on my 18th, except for drinking and stuff, but I've already been doing that by then so it wasn't as sweet as one would think.
