The Rise of Telekinesis

Post » Thu Aug 02, 2012 5:08 pm

So I was thinking for a bit since I asked everyone about telekinesis.
(Read: I wanted to do this right away but procrastinated until now.)

I think I've come up with a great overhaul to the telekinesis spell. Multiple tiers, better damage, all that good stuff. A bit of information before reading on: Damage multiplier means the weight, or damage value, of the item you grabbed is multiplied by that when thrown. Bows and staves should use their weight when thrown. Weight Limit means no object above that weight can be lifted with that spell.

Apprentice

-Weakest version of telekinesis: Smallest range, lowest carry weight, and weakest damage.

-Ability to throw equipped arrows?

Single Cast: [Damage x .5] [Weight Limit = 10] [Range = 5m] [Items = 1]

Double Cast: [Damage x 1] [Weight Limit = 15] [Range = 10m] [Items = 3]

Adept

-Ability to throw equipped arrows?

-Ability to open doors, turn valves, pull levers, etc.?

Single Cast: [Damage x 1.5] [Weight Limit = 25] [Range = 15m] [Items = 1]

Double Cast: [Damage x 2] [Weight Limit = 30] [Range = 20m] [Items = 4]

Expert

-Ability the throw equipped arrows?

-Ability to open doors, turn valves, pull levers, etc.?

-Ability to pickpocket and lockpick at range?

-Unlimited range?

-Unlimited weight?

-Ability to take equipped weapon of opponent?

Single Cast: [Damage x 2.5] [Items = 1]

Double Cast: [Damage x 3] [Items = 5]

Master

-Requires being dual cast

-Lifts most NPCs, excluding dragons and other large beings

-Limitless range

-Does not have abilites of previous telekinesis spells

In addition to these new telekinesis spells, I had a few thoughts on other new spells and uses in relation to them.

Conjure Quiver / Magickal Quiver

Basically, either a conjuration spell that gives you a quiver for a limited time with unlimited arrows

OR

A magical (Aedric/Daedric?) artifact that uses magicka instead of arrows when equipped with a bow.

Wards and Telekinesis

Firstly, if it wasn't obvious, thrown objects should not count as magical when hitting a ward.

Secondly, I think a cool dual cast would be using a ward and telekinesis to deflect incoming spells at the attackers.

Well, that's all I've got for now. I'm kind of excited to either have these ideas praised or torn apart and replaced by better ones. :3

Find Tolfdir at the College, it's an Adept level alteration spell. Have fun.

If I recall correctly you get a quiver of 100 conjured arrows when you summon a Bound Bow but it disappears when the Bound Bow disappears. So the mechanic is in the game.

I kind of figured it would be simply taking the arrows part fo the conjure bow spell. I think it would be a great spell for an archer that doesn't specialize in conjuring that happened to run out of arrows, or as part of the telekinesis idea.

I read up on telekinesis for that quick, and it does look great.
Honestly, I was trying really hard to not base it off Kinesis from Dead Space when I wrote this.

I disagree with being able to pickup/throw NPCs....it would be TOO much fun.

This would make me finally want to play an Alteration mage. If I were on PC, I would be begging for a mod like this. Maybe this could be in Hearthfire? It allows for so many new ways to kill Nazeem! Oh, I don't get to the Cloud District, but maybe you would like a boost to the clouds? BOOM! In the air.

"Hey Nazeem. Ever been outside of Whiterun?"
"Er... yes, why?"
"Not like this!" *throws him over the wall*
