Best of luck with the new series.

Currently playing a sneaky archer who uses Conjuration spells myself. I have a mod that boosts the number of summons / resurrected corpses at once based on mastery level. It's pretty cool having (at my current level) FOUR atronacs etc. on my side at once. It's not as overpowered as you'd think as I have other mods that enhance NPC's etc. to make them tougher than average.

One thing I will say, having watching the videos of your other playthrough, when there's a lot of movement going on things seem to get quite pixelated. I've downloaded at 720p, so I assume this is an artifact of FRAPS? As you're doing shorter videos, would it be possible to encode using somewhat reduced compression to improve the quality? This will bump the file size up of course, but with such short episodes hopefully it won't be an issue. Not used FRAPS myself for quite some time, so I'm not sure what options are on offer these days.

Don't know about everyone else, but watching gameplay vids always seems to get me back into the game nicely.

Hey buddy, thanks a lot, appreciated :)

I sure can upload it at a better rate, it was what I was planning on doing considering it is a shorter series, yes. But damn I hate the quality of anything below 720p on my videos. I've noticed my Let's Plays look horrible in the current state of their quality. I wish it wasn't almost 2gigs to upload a video at a good quality. But I will try and figure that out asap.

Thanks for telling me that ! :)

Hey,

Have you checked out the "Skyrim Mod Sanctuary" videos? I download his work at 720p and a typical 25 minute installment is around 300 - 350 megs, yet the quality is very good. Obviously he is attempting to show off mods in this particular series so fidelity is critical.

Additionally, if FRAPS is doing less compression work on the fly, then CPU resource usuage should drop. However, HDD bandwidth requirements will increase of course. From what you're saying I think you have FRAPS recording in a raw or near-raw (low compression) format, before converting the video to upload? I used to do the same myself, streaming to another HDD other than the one the game or whatever I was recording was running from.

I suspect people who've uploaded stuff more recently than me can advise you far better on how to get the best possible quality for a given file size.

Best of luck.

Thanks Scoob,

I'll go check them out right now :) and I've started searching into how to get the best quality out of Fraps. But i honestly think it's the program i'm making the videos with, it has a share option. I just save the movie and share it straight to youtube for faster upload rate. So i've converted back to the youtube upload page instead. Perhaps that'll give better quality, and I've saved the movie in the highest quality there is. So hopefully the next episode (which is uploading at this moment) will be better and actually capable of watching hahah. ^_^

Ah, I'm with you...yes, I understand that such software will upload in a highly compressed format for quick uploads. Really, if you want to do it right, you need to use something a little better - but of course the video conversion from raw and upload will take longer.

I will keep an eye out and download your video as soon as it's available. I've started using "Easy Youtube Video Downloader" now as, for me, Youtube vids stream poorly and often just crap out on me...

Hi,

Just checked out your latest upload, much much better quality footage.

As an aside, since you're using several mods, it would be nice (if it doesn't break your gameplay - maybe a separate vid?) to detail those and what they do.

Ah yay :) Glad you liked the quality.

I'll most definitely do a Mod's series along the line once I get deeper into the Let's Plays, but of course I'll make sure that when I do do the Mod series it'll be on a different character.
Considering I film 2-4 episodes every time I play Skyrim, and I'd be so far ahead haha.

Actually, you've inspired me to start a new game myself...in the process of sorting what mods I'll use etc. right now in fact.

Btw: I checked Gophers Youtube channel and he lists what software he uses, if you'd not checked already.
