The Skaal (Nord tribe group)

Post » Thu Oct 11, 2012 5:48 pm

who else misses them and wishes they we saw them in Skyrim? I'm not so fussed about going to Solstheim (although I'm not opposed) but I'd like to have seen them in Skyrim. Maybe a few in Winterhold or around Windhelm. It seems strange not seeing them,

That and their great smithing Skills (probably old Nord wisdom like old Grey Mane) when it came to their excellent Nordic Mail

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a DLC that allows us to revisit Solstheim, to be honest. I think so many players want to see the areas they explored back in Morrowind and 'check up' on the province so many of us loved. So if not Solstheim, perhaps North Western Morrowind at least...

I would like to go back to Solstheim and see how it is now, being filled with, IIRC, Dunmer refugees. Could be an interesting setup for a conflict, fairly isolantionist Nords on the same island as a larger population of Dunmer? Fun times indeed.

Umm, wasn't Solstheim given back to Morrowind by Skyrim?

Correct me if wrong but I think Skyrim just lent it to Dunmer so they have somewhere to live after the Red Year.

This. Although I really hope that if they did something like this, there would be a chance to resolve things peacefully. I was hoping for something like that in the Civil War, because I like Ulfric and I think his heart is in the right place, but I think long-term we need the Empire to win against the Aldmeri Dominion.

yeah, it was this, just like the section of Windhelm that was lent to the Dunmer live, it still belongs to Skyrim but alot of Dunmers live there :)

I think leaving them in Solstheim was the right choice. They were hardly the nicest fellows, so them being secluded on an island far up north makes perfect sense to me.

After the devastating eruption of http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Red_Mountain that nearly obliterated the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dunmer culture, the island was generously given to the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dunmer by the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Nords as a new homeland.
When Solstheim was generously offered to the Dunmer as a new home, I was as surprised as any. I did not, however, share the apparent expectation that all dark elves would leave Skyrim. It did not go unnoticed that many in Winterhold were unhappy at how many mages chose to stay at the College rather than relocate.

I'd prefer to visit Necrom over Solstheim...erm if Necrom is still around I mean.

I don't think the Skaal were all that hip in traveling, so I wouldn't expect to see them in Skyrim.

If any were in Skyrim, I'm sure we'd notice. Their beliefs would stand out. They have a slightly different pantheon and such.

...You can't see Belief from a distance. It's not a giant arrow hovering overhead. If I recall right, every Nord in that village looked like every other Nord you saw in Morrowind.

The skaal remarked that they were quite different from the nords in skyrim and that they had left because of such.

Haven't seen any monotheistic religions in Tamriel since the Allessian Crusades.

I liked the Skaal way more then the Nord in Skyrim.
I am currently playing in a forum RPG in which I am using some Skaal lore for General Jonna, the Nord General fighting in the Great War.
She is no Skaal, but she wears a Nordic Mail (why is there no Nordic Mail in Skyrim??) and sympathizes with Skaal believes.

The nordic milkdrinkers in Skyrim are way to imperialized for my taste.
I have no great love for Nords (or humans in TES) in general, but the Skaal Nords are cooler then the Skyrim Nords.
Bring them back, Bethesda.

It is odd. You'd think Bethesda might add at least one sojourner who's picking up supplies or such, just as a little nod.

I agree, besides the armor, the Skaal didn't seem that unique to me. And adding more Nords to the game...is not something I'm looking for.

I would love to see the Skaal again and meet Tharsten Heart-Fang's great-great-great-great-grandson.
