no, his spirit is too powerful and Shor rescued him from an eternal abyss. Same goes for Dragonborn. Undoubtfully worthy heroes ascend to Sovngarde despite their death. Only lycanthropy and vampirisim stop a true hero from ascending.

No as animals are considered white souls and don't need a black soul to fill. only NPCs can fill black soul gems.

I don't feel too bad about it, I mostly soul-trapped bandits anyway.

Apart from fighting the Ideal Masters, I figure it should be as easy as keeping a portal open to another realm of Oblivion or Sovengarde or what have you. Which is... extremely hard.

The first time I went into the Soul Cairn, I vowed to never use Soul trap again. That place is terrible! No fun, no Sovngardey merriment, and big brother is always watching, for eternity.

Seriously? This is what made you feel bad? You were ripping out their souls and trapping them in tiny, probably super cramped rocks. Only to be forced into a weapon, Jewelry, or article of clothing of some sort a good deal of time later, and only NOW you feel guilty about it?

Still better than what I always thought happened to them. I always imagined they were forced to live forever inside of whatever I enchanted them with, constantly aware and never able to block anything out. Always living as that article of clothing, or being a blade that's used to cut down innocents with the very power of the soul itself, yet with no power to stop it. I imagined my sword would drive people who wielded it insane with all the screaming resonating from inside the metal whenever the blade was held. But the power of the sword drove them to keep it until they became mindless murderers! Alas, that thought is gone... makes my demon swords a lot less epic...

well there are cows in the cairn. but obviously we only get to explore a portion of it

I believe the the Hero of Battlespire saved a soul from the Soul Cairn. I may be wrong though.

He wasn't an agent. He was captured, interrogated, and listed as an asset for his link to the throne of Windhelm.

But, my Dovahkiin is a werewolf and when he defeated Alduin, Hakon One-Eye told him they would proudly wait for the day he goes to Sovngarde.. Will that day never come?
