The Sound of Silence - ESO gone dark?

I think we can all acknowledge that ESO received a much less gratifying reception than anyone could have anticipated, let alone the developers themselves.

On almost every article, interview and video, people came out in droves to voice their displeasure for the game's direction, pick apart the words of the developers and trash the game even in such early stages of intitial marketing.

From a marketing standpoint, this kind of thing can't be ignored. Paul Sage even acknowledged that they were listening to the feedback. At least, he first came out and said that, he would much rather have people talking about it than ignroing it because at least then people cared.

Later he changed his tune and said that people should wait until beta before passing judgement.

Since the lukewarm press at E3 and scathing fan reactions we have heard next to nothing, save for a few small interviews and articles that came off as very defensive and back-tracking. They were compltely absent from Quakecon (which is pretty much Bethesda Softworks and Zenimax Media's show) and now not a sign from them at Gamescom.

Usually, when people start a marketing campaign they don't shut it down after a few months when there is more than a year left before release, they create a steady stream of information (just look at the marketing for every other gamesas title - steady information). This is either some kind of new approach to marketing or they have pulled back completely for one reason or another.

Now we see the new gamesas site and Elder Scrolls Online forums aren't even linked on it (although that could mean an official ESO forum is on the horizon).

So, the question is, do you think ESO's marketing department has gone dark and if so, why?

Could they be putting blinders on, highly discouraged by all the negativity, and just forging ahead to the finish line? Or could they be going back to the drawing board, taking many of the similar complaints to heart? Or...could ZMM have put the project on hold? We have yet to hear any rumors of cancellation like those surrounding Prey 2 but I wouldn't be surprised if those started to pop up soon admidst the silence.
