I'm a game collector. Mainly collect for the PS2, but I also like to collect for the Gameboy systems, http://securelink.sendori.com/r?key=Nintendo&spid=1908&output=redirect&ix=1 DS, and that's really about it. Once the current gen ends, I probably will be more interested in collecting for those. I was planning to get an original http://securelink.sendori.com/r?key=Xbox&spid=1908&output=redirect&ix=1 so I could get into that system's many underrated gems, but I don't have any place for other consoles. I also dabble a bit in psychical copies of PC games collecting since I am very much big on having the actual game in some storage format it was put on. I can't have games that used floppies since the old computer that was Windows 98 out of the box is now a dusty wi-fi center no one wants to touch.
I'm just going to use that computer as a speaker donor for when I get my first computer built. I would use the monitor, but modern gaming means the old school box ones are just going to be annoying. I also like to collect Pokemon related stuff and still will buy such stuff if I see it at a thrift store. Used to attempt to collect cassette tapes, but refused to have tapes of country I had no interest in.
I unintentionally have a decent sized collection of Magic The Gathering cards. Funny story behind those, actually. I only kept them because I got a few Japanese cards out of the collection my grandma found at a Wal-Mart that some kid no longer wanted. I only took the collection because I needed more card binder sleeves for my Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. I tried to see if I could make a profit off that MtG collection.
Hoped the now defunct comic book shop I loved to go to would buy them, but my parents said no to that. Tried to see if someone would help me sell them off eBay, but I had no knowledge of how much each card was worth. I'm stuck with a bunch of cardboard I never intended to own now. Oh well, I still have pride in having those Japanese Magic the Gathering cards. Also feel some pride over having some Spanish Yu-Gi-Oh! cards from a non-Spanish Wal-Mart. These foreign language cards were found in normal booster packs of the card game, oddly.
I still have the small soda bottle collection of just five bottles near my TV. That one started with a classic style Coke bottle and ended with a Ramune bottle. I did like the Ramune, but it made me hyper to the point of an anxiety attack. I also have two bottles that had an Ohio made cream soda my local used game store sells. Love that stuff. Cream soda doesn't give me those weird bloated feelings and tastes great.
I used to collect comic books, but got bored of the Sonic comics from Archie. I still dabble in comic books, but not for collecting. I still have my Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! card collections. I'd say my Yu-Gi-Oh collection is worth more money than the Pokemon one is due to how much better shape the cards of the Yu-Gi-Oh collection are.
Also collect coins unintentionally due to my grandpa always sending me some sort of coin/pennies he wants me to put into the collection of what is really just keepsakes. I quite like the unintentional collection, to be honest. He also gave me a golden baseball card. I intend to keep that due to it being a keepsake to me and worth more in sentimental value than money. I do have some pretty hard to find games like the PS1 version of Lunar 2(I only have the jewel case and game discs), Silent Hill 3(it is considered of value, but more because it was a good game), Psychonauts on the PS2(got that one as a 10 year old. I wasn't a Slowy Joey!), and Tail of the Sun for PS1.
I somewhat like to collect figures of dragons and fantasy related things. This is more of a desk decor thing, though. I collected Digimon mini figures when I was younger and still have the collection. It is a bit tattered, but it is still great to look through.
I don't actually use any listing for my collection of video games right now. I have certain things I am dead set on finding like Shin Megami Tensei games and everything else is mostly things I would rather happen upon without any intention on it. I have the PS2 version of Killer 7, something I never knew existed.
Just decided to make my own thread on collecting since it seemed like a good idea. I know the OP is long, I just thought that post would be a good starter for the thread.
