When the closed beta application was announced, I was excited. Perhaps a bit too excited, I wanted to get my application done fast. Somewhere in my mind I had a nagging thought that if I didn't submit it right away, they wouldn't bother reading it (which they won't anyway, but I'm getting ahead of myself). So, perhaps a bit stupidly, I completely forgot to read the FAQ. In the FAQ it says that you have to be, again, you HAVE TO BE 18 years of age to even be considered to join the beta. This is, as far as I can understand, because of the NDA. My understanding of the NDA is that you cannot A) disclose any information regarding the beta that ZOS hasn't specifically allowed you to disclose. Or B ) Reveal that you are taking part in the beta. So far, it makes perfect sense that they'd want a beta tester to be completely responsible if they breach this agreement. What doesn't make sense, is why your legal guardian couldn't take responsibility FOR YOU? This can be done in so many other contracts where the signer can either choose to represent themselves as legal advlts or have their parents represent them.
Everyone I know who decided that they would apply for testing lied about their age on their application. I'm not going to judge them for it, that's their descision, but I will get slightly jealous if they get in having lied and I don't. If I don't get in because I lack the desired attributes then that's fine, it's the age thing I'm worried about.
You see, I could have just as easily signed up pretending to be a 30 something. I did not. In fact, RIGHT NOW I could make a new email adress and simply make another application with some small things like the machine name in the DxDiag changed and the "why choose me" section. I'm not going to do that either. Why? Because it would be stupid in my opinion. I don't want to lie to Bethesda, for a number of different reasons. Make no mistake, I'm not trying to make myself look good here, chivalry was not among those reasons.
So what am I saying with this topic really? I'm saying that ZOS could give us minors the same chance as everyone else, considering the fact that pretty much anyone can lie their way into the beta. If I'm wrong about parents being held responsible then please point that out to me, I'm not a lawyer so I could very well be wrong.
I went ahead and sent in my application anyway, because somewhere inside I just thought it would have been a waste not to. Better give it a try and fail than not try at all, right? The fact that you are even able to send an application if your age is set lower than 18 is weird.
