How the [censored] do they expect people my age to afford that [censored] ?

Easy. Buy really cheap, easily replaceable cars. That way you don't need to rely on insurance.

And coffee needs sugar. Unless you have no taste buds.

Okay, I'm ready to admit that it's possible that taste varies - personally, I find sugar in coffee absolutely disgusting. I'm really not averse to sugar, by the way, put tons in my yoghurt. It's just that I've always found the mix of coffee and sugar horrendous.

But when you drink freshly roasted/ground coffee, how the hell can you appreciate it with sugar ? Had some fine Papouasia yesterday - so fine I'm afraid I drank the whole half-pound in less than two days. *cough* :P Can't imagine putting sugar in that.

Tea, it depends. Sometimes the mood strikes me for lemon flavoured green tea, wouldn't abide it in Lapsang Souchong.

It's illegal to be uninsured here AFAIK, and even crappy cars cost loads to insure.

Is it? :meh: There's always public transport. Bicycles. Motorcycles.

Get a bike, RS. It's cheap and fuel efficient.

Remember that insurance isn't only for the driver's benefit but also (or rather predominantly) for anybody they may run down, drive into, etc.

I'm very fussy about having freshly ground coffee beans, and in a decent grinder at that, and then brewed at exactly the right temperature, but after years of trying I still can't drink it without sugar. I can tell the subtle differences between different beans (well, to an extent), though I think a good bean done by a competent roaster should stand up for itself with or without the addition of sugar.

Indeed, then after the insurance and the car you need petrol money.
I will wait until I have a good job, but then people say I should be able to drive to get a good job (my area svcks), its annoying as hell.

I dont know if its on topic, but anyone know good military music from differnt countries ? I only really know some British and American stuff.

This. French press, always. But no sugar? Blasphemous.

Almost as bad as using Splenda or Sweet-and-Low. :yuck:

I've never had hot coffee with anything before, just plain old black coffee. I guess I've just never bothered trying to change the flavour, and that I'm happy with it in it's original form. I'm open to trying milk/cream in coffee, but sugar just sounds yuck.

Am I the only person here who can't stand tea or coffee in any form or fashion? I've tried every flavor known to man, straight up, with sugar, without sugar, with half & half (cream and milk mix), without, with milk, without, with honey, without... I just do NOT like the flavor at all. Except jasmine green tea - and even then I can't get through a whole cup. As for driving in my state in the US, I'll have to get back to you on that. It seems the laws have changed so I'm not even sure. lol When I got mine, I took driver's education as one of my elective classes in high school (for free), after that went and got my learner's permit (could drive with an advlt of 18 or older in the car) at 15, had to have it for 6 months, then you were able to get a full driver's license at the age of 16. But we don't spend more then maybe $100 at the most on getting them... I can't even imagine the price and effort that you guys have to do in Norway. Vote at 18, join the service at 18, drink at 21. But you have to remember that these laws can different from state to state in the US. Even though we're one country, we have the right to set different ages for stuff. (There were some states that allowed drinking at 18 for "low beer" or drinks with a certain % of alcohol. Some that allowed drinking of everything at 18. Some who have never lowered it to less then 21.)

I'm afraid I'm one of the people who uses the latter. I used to use honey, but after my body started having trouble with this being alive malarky I had to move across to stuff that was less likely to invoke the wrath of diabetes, so Hermestas, Splenda etc it is for me now. Fortunately I'm much less sensitive to the variation in taste between sweeteners than I am about coffee.

Yes, but you guys also find http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Salt.sill.jpeg Swedish Fish to be appetizing :teehee:

I've tried honey but it tastes off to me. Likewise, all the artificial sweeteners taste. . .off. Bitter almost. I'm glad I can still eat the real stuff. For now, anyhow. . . :ermm:

I don't like tea or coffee much myself, but I do like cafe mocha type drink once in a while - they're more of a sweet desert than coffee, imo. The only tea I've liked is oolong and some green, and even then it's more only that I don't hate it :)
I have a very overdeveloped sensitivity to bitter, and coffee/tea/booze don't get past my lips very often. However, I do love caffeine, so sometimes if I'm out of diet Dew, I'll snag a half-cup of hubby's java (and put a lot of milk in it) before I shower & dash to the store to get more of my personal choice fix.

Blasphemous ? That is weird. In the whole sugar-in-coffee debate, I've heard that word used solely by sugarless coffee zealots, while the others usually argue for freedom of taste. Pretty much like saying *not* putting ice cubes in your wine is an heresy.

*Shrug* Just making an observation. Personally, I just hate the taste of sugary coffee, much like I eat my black chocolate only above 90% cocoa.

That's not fish flavoured! :P it's just a salt sild. It's liquorice with a salty/sweet taste. I love that stuff.

Actually, I'm curious what salmiak tastes like. But I hate liquorice so it's probably not for me.

The most natural choice from all of the sweeteners, honey, tastes "off" to you? :cryvaultboy: Oh dear god what has industrialisation done to people?

:poke: And why have I never seen this one before? It's officially my favourite emoticon.

Actually I know what he means: it does have an interesting background taste unlike refined sugar which is just sweet and nothing else. Personally I think it complements coffee wonderfully, especially set honey, but I can understand people not liking it.

I'm pretty much the same way with chocolate as I am with coffee: although I'm an unabashed addict, I'm not big on the 80%+ chocolates and I like mine milky and sweetened. That said, I'm not a fan of white chocolate either...

Honey can taste very different depending on what pollens the bees are using. Most honey, to me, smells/tastes kind of flowery, and I dislike it. I have had some honey that wasn't bad, but even then, like vometia said, it has it's own distinct flavor over "just a sensation of sweet" like sugar. I personally prefer a quality maple syrup over honey in terms of flavor alone (not the imitation maple flavor corn syrup crap tho...).

But there are so many flavours of honey, each informed by all of the plants on which a specific hive's bees perch. And if you include combinations of plants, tastes are practically endless.

Why not just go cappucino?

For me, it's either black Turkish coffee (yes, served in little shot-sized cups), or cappucinos.

As for tea... I like rooibos, green, pu ehr, mint, laika and lemon. No sugar or milk.
