A cubit is an Egyptian unit of measurement that is based off of the forearm. The ratio of the perimeter to height in cubits of the Great Pyramid of Giza is 1760/280 which equates to 2Pi to an accuracy of greater then 0.05%. Each side also corresponds exactly to North, South, East and West.

Canada has more lakes then the rest of the world combined, has the world's second largest oil reserves and is the world's largest producer of uranium. There are also more Canadian players in the NHL then all other nations combined.

Every atom in the universe that isn't hydrogen, helium or lithium was created by an exploding star.
Every atom in the universe with an atomic number higher than iron was created in a supernova.
Using the periodic table, the word "female" can be translated to mean "iron man".
The average human body has enough iron to make a nail.
If you were to travel close to a magnatar, the magnetic forces would be so great it would strip all the iron out of your body.
The strongest manmade magnets have no measurable effect on the human body.
White dwarfs composed of carbon are essentially giant hot diamonds.

Canada is also the country with the 4th lowest population density in the world.

hahah I think the last one sounds best in Norwegian  I also think that one sounds most Norwegian, actually. But you know, the letters X, C and W are not much used in Norwegian, so I guess it's hard to find original Norwegian words with them in it. We rather use KS, S and V.

edit: forgot Z, we rarely use that one either.
And Q, I can't think of any of our words containing that letter.
...Nope, not a single word, besides quiz of course.

I rarely use that anyway.

In Jefferson City, Missouri, it is illegal to tie a boat to the railroad tracks.

In St. Louis, Missouri, it is illegal to drink beer from a bucket.

If the average (not overly-sweaty) person drinks more than three litres of water per day, they cause themselves heart damage. Drinking more than four litres of water in an hour will kill a human being; the body can't process that amount of water and just shuts down. (Morbid, I know, but this was the trivia that inspired the thread, so it deserves to be here.)

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/water/NU00283

Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water.

So how much fluid does the average, healthy advlt living in a temperate climate need? The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.

Source please for your water "fact." Mayo's website describes 3 litres per day for males as adequate. That's not even a max.

Source please for your water "fact."

Both of my parents are doctors. They have 50-60 years of experience between them in the medical profession, and they regularly have to deal with de- and overhydration. I talk to them about medical stuff. They told me.

Mayo's website describes 3 litres per day for males as adequate. That's not even a max.

There's actually not a consensus on how much water you have to drink, per day. Some people say six, some eight, some ten, glasses. If you sweat a lot, due to physical exertion or even just biological propensity, you can safely drink more. How much more...

Obviously, the limit varies from person to person and region to region.

Mayo's the only source I've ever seen cite 3 litres as "adequate".
