The ULTIMATE guide to download english version of Dawnguard

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:48 am

I take pride with the ULTIMATE guide because well...it's the only one for now so...

Many of us european users usually buy english version of games even if a local version is available. This could be for any numer of reasons, I personally like to play a game with original voice acting, most of all story-based games like RPGs, because it's better, it's how the devs conceived it and because often translations are google-translator made. Try asking the italian or german audience about Oblivion...or about the italian dubbed version of Half Life 2...

I personally own many UK versions of recent games, like Mass Effect 1-2-3, Deusix HR, Fallout New Vegas, the Call of Duties, Assassin's Creed series and many others, and of course Skyrim as well.

But since english Dawnguard is not available on french, italian, german or spanish xbox marketplace stores you'll need a UK xbox LIVE account. And, of course, 1600 microsoft points.
This is TESTED and WILL WORK on you main european account with your main save game. No need to start the game from beginning or anything.

Now let's get those:

1. follow this guide step-by-step (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92807) to create a UK gamertag and a UK hotmail address.
Be sure to visit www.xbox.com/en-GB/ to create the gamertag since even if you use a UK email address on a, for instance, italian-created gamertag you'll still have access to the italian marketplace anyway.

2. if you followed and done everything right you should now have your new UK gamertag on your xbox360 and be able to browse the UK marketplace. You'll now have to add the 1600 microsoft points.
You have two ways of doing this:

A- using a credit card or a paypal account to buy 2000 microsoft points directly from the marketplace at the cost of 17£ - 21,50 euros. This way you'll have 400 microsoft points left (Dawnguard is 1600 points) on your account that you can spend or you could use them for the next Skyrim DLC when it comes out that you'll buy with your UK account, if you want it in english. This is the fastest method.

B- go to this site http://www.cardcodecenter.com/# and buy two 800 microsoft points code cards for the price of 17 euros. You'll get the two codes via email minutes after the payment via Paypal (you can use ONLY Paypal on this site). The site is ok and it is safe, don't worry!
Reedem both the codes on the xbox marketplace. This method is quite cheaper and it's useful if you don't want to / can't add your credit card on the UK live account. It'll also get you exactly the 1600 points you need with no points getting wasted.

3. WHEN ASKED FOR a city and a postal code while adding you credit card or redeeming the codes type Cambridge as city and CB21TN as postal code.

4. download Dawnguard.

5. now enjoy your new vampire glowing eyes!

(if not yet a vampire then:)
5. become a vampire by fighting some vampires.
6. enjoy your new vampire glowing eyes!

Once downloaded the DLC will work on ANY profile and gamertag on your current console, if you want to play it with your german account for instance IT WILL WORK.
This is tested, I downloaded Dawnguard from the UK marketplace and I'm playing it with my 200 hours+ save game on my main italian account. Of course I own a UK copy of Skyrim.

This is the only method to get that working for us, hopefully Bethesda will release english versions of DLCs in non english-speaking countries as well next time, as they did for south america...

Well now, I hope this is going to be useful for all of you european friends owning a UK copy of Skyrim and wanting to play Dawnguard in english as well! Hope that Gian Lizard, Santos69, dlz125, the other italian users on the forums and all the others good old europeans will get this working!

By the way Dawnguard release for europe really svcked, 20 days late and when it came it came mega-bugged...too bad really...I know I'm going to enjoy Dawnguard because I loved and I'm still loving Skyrim, but Beth, for the next DLC (hoping soon) don't screw up, ok? Please?

Anyway guys, good game all, it's been a gap! Ciao!

PS: Bethesda you own me a beer!

PPS: Europe, you own me a beer!

I'll do this, don't know when, but I will.. the problem remains though, the one that really pisses me off: having to buy points again. Still, I'll think about this

I just.. Downloaded it the 26th. Then again, I put my console on UK since I preferred English text in menus.

Cheers for that. Although it shouldn't be like that. We should be able to choose which language version of the DLC we want to download. I'm stuck with a game now that's partly english, partly german, which pretty much ruins the whole experience.
