In the Vegas Strip by lvl. 3

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 3:15 pm

I began the game at "easy" on the xbox 360, did the tutorial quest. I then took the very difficult challenge of leaving Goodsprings and finding safe passage to the Vegas Strip to talk to Mr. house. I did it by lvl. 3. I'm sure there's people who can beat me. Let me know if you think you can or have done it. Also, you'll want to save before you do it if you don't want to miss out on probably 80% of the game. :tops:

You can go to Prim Pass, sneaking past the blind deathclaw and come out at Novac, from there there aren't really any enemies worth noting. Pick up loot on the way and sell it to the Gun Runners to get over 2000 caps for the strip check and you're in.

It's possible to get there at lvl 1 as well. It's actually quite easy to get into the strip.

You do need 80 science or 2000caps. But yeah, I have been doing this since my second character.

Well it's not hard to get 2000 caps as long as you know where to look. ;)

Hey just so you guys know, you don't need any caps to get into the Strip.

This is what you can do. Get the Greeter to follow you as if he's gonna talk to you about showing him the caps. As he's chasing you go down to the other end of Freeside and kill him to get his key.

Then, just run as fast as you can to the gate and unlock it with the key. The Securitrons in the Strip won't be hostile.

Thanks how you get to the Strip at level 1.

I just take the McCarran (sp?) monorail into the Strip. No caps needed that way either. At least, never has been for me. And yes, easily done at lvl 1, either taking the longer sneaky route or taking the shorter sneaky route. All you have to do is avoid/circle around enemies, and not stop to fight...and if need be, run really fast. ;)

There are two ways to make it to the strip from Goodsprings and I would reccomend doing this on your 2nd playthrough so that it doesn't ruin your game experience I mean you can get some pretty powerful stuff if you get past both the Deathclaws and the Cazadors.

1- Head to the Tribal Village (Don't head directly there go up the ridge just north of the gas station and then peck the Cazadors to death with your Varmint Rifle. That gets you some decent items that can be sold at the Gun Runners for about 1000 caps or more.

2- Get the Stealth Boy either in the Schoolhouse or from Cobb (If your siding with Goodsprings). Head north to Sloan stay to the far right and then time the Stealthboy just right. You should be able to sneak to the Repconn building with no problems.

Number 1 is easier because after you kill the Cazadors all you have to worry about is Big Horners and possible Raiders, also avoid Bonnie Springs.

I did at level 2, sneaking/running past the deathclaws. To get to the strip, my luck was set to 10, so I went to the Atomic Wrangler. This was all because of my roleplay that my character was extremely lucky and doing that on a hunch.

Yeah me too. I was surprised when I leveled up from playing blackjack and slots

I went into it at lvl 8 with a halfassed build and it worked fine for me.
Lvl 3 is just a waste of time.
You won't have enough in skills to use a lot of skill checks and other things requiring skill checks.

I got there on pretty quickly. Level 2 or 3 at most. The fastest way to get to The Strip for me is head to Sloan. Walk along the right side of the mountain near Neal's Shack. You'll soon be able up to walk along the mountain wall. Deathclaws might see you, but they won't be able to catch you (unless you sneak). The mountain will turn right and just keep walking until you see Repconn Headquarters. Jump down from the mountain and off you go. Deathclaws won't walk as far as Repconn.

Hmm thought a low level would get destroyed. I had a lvl 16 guy go in and it was tough.
Now for my EW character with no points in guns or unarmed/melee... This will be so fun, having no ammo and using weapons with little points in thier skill.
No light step either so traps will be annoying.

Well, bear trap fist is ridiculously powerful against Ghosts.
Just watch out for the ghosts which use that weapon themselves.

True, but its still tough until you get stimpack codes. And my original guy had a good guns and melee so this im not looking foreward too.

How did you get caps by 3 ? I usually lvl up getting enough to get in.

Loot.
Loot everything around Goodsprings as fast as possible and sell to Chet.
Find a way to evade the deathclaws and escape up north.
Then just loot the right places for good stuff and sell to the gun runners.
If you know where good stuff is to loot then it'll go faster.
But getting in is really easy if you know where to loot.
I'm playing Torment and Undead Nightmare right now so I'm kinda unfocused on good loot in Vegas.

The easiest way to the strip for me is to go through Hidden Valley easily just dodging the Bark Scorpions and down the ledge towards Neil's Shack. (I have been going ahead and waiting for his forced greet on the road just below.) Go back down the road a few feet and then up a little hill to the right, and follow the rocky area around the inner rim to where a dead NCR guy is laying. (You're pretty far from any muties in there, but I still sneak and keep a watchful eye down in their camp.) Anyway, there's a path down by the NCR guy to your left up the hill lined with bear traps, but you can avoid them if you don't have the repair to disarm them yet. (I usually don't at level 2, lol.) Just find each trap and side step it and go straight up the path and over the hill towards ROBCO and you're home free! Coming back you have to get to the higher level and work your way down to the path that leads back to Niel's area.

The best thing I've discovered with this route is that it's easily repeatable in both directions and there's no combat to waste your ammo on this early. And you don't need stealth boys or anything else but what's on your back as there are no deathclaws to worry about. It's plain old easy! I do it every time early on.

I already did it at level 1. Started, walked there after managing to avoid deathclaws near the quarry. Got to the place with maintenance robots patrolling the outside, managed to avoid the chem addicted people. Then got around into freeside and through into the north gate to the strip. Took me awhile, I must have died 5-6 times by deathclaws before managing to get onto a nice cliff and walking around them.

It can be done.

I did it at level 1. Took a route a bit east to the Deathclaws and high up on the cliffs. Didn't even need to use a Stealthboy. From there, I robbed everything in McCarran and Freeside. Sold the McCarran stuff to Mick and the Freeside stuff to the NCR vendor in McCarran. Waltzed into the Strip easily. Then I loaded a save from before I entered, did all of the main quests up till Ring-A-Ding-Ding just in case any quests got messed up.
