The weirdest, most stupid glitch I have ever seen in TES.

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 12:26 pm

I have seen some ridiculous glitches in TES over the years; Essential NPC's dead, hanging from treetops. Potions lodged in ceilings, looking at my character in 3rd person to see that he is knee deep in the ground.
The list goes on.

However, this glitch I saw the other day takes the cake.

I emerged from Helgen cave with a fresh character, walked down the path towards riverwood.

To my left, out of the corner of my eye, I swore I could see antlers in the water.

I made my way down to the river's edge, and I counted 5 rabbits, a deer, and two foxes all swimming/floating upside-down. Alive.

Seriously, WTF?

Nice!! Easy target practice, I hope you took advantage of the situation and Lv.ed your archery.

No I didn't. I reloaded a slightly older save.

I wasn't about to continue playing through that mess.

Yeah saw that too, it was Alduim during the Helgen intro... I was hoping for him to come back down, I love to hear him speaking, but he just went up, and up, swirling... eventually I got tired and made my way into the keep.

lol I've never seen any of that bugs you mentioned, I'm lucky, there was on I had last year where a dragon who magically died, his skeletal corpse would always appear by the entrance inside whiterun.

Haha, awesome. I've recently had a falmer suddenly "levitate", until only his feet were visible from the ceiling. Pretty funny to see a pair of feet walking right below the ceiling.

Mammoths randomly dropping out of the sky has become a semi-regular occurance in my game.

I've seen a few things: dead NPC's suddenly start moving (more like responding to an earthquake) - food (apple pies mostly - must be a really hearty species of apple they grow in Skyrim  ) dancing a jig on a table, and once saw a dragon skeleton fall out of the sky in front of me.

I wonder if all these glitches are mod related...do you use mods?

I ask because i play xbox and havent seen any of the "common" glitches like falling mammoths and the like...in fact i dont see many glitches at all except dead thralls going missing and the occasional random dragon messing up a conversation. I did have a college quest killing glitch that.angered me but hope its been fixed since for my new mage

Not all mod related. I play on PS3 and have seen most of these - dancing food, falling mammoths, dead bodies standing in the neutral pose, etc. I just smile and move on. "Watch the skies, traveller" doesn't always mean watch for dragons. Sometimes it's mammoths. :)

Oh, and I forgot this one - I play on PS3 as well, and I just finished (with a new character - see my avatar) the Potema quest yesterday. Well, after she was dead and I had picked up the gold etc, I left the chamber, then went back and for no reason with no NPC in the place there were Potema's lightning bolts flashing out of the ceiling, and because I was curious, still doing damage. There was nothing there to kill and turn them off... I just shrugged, smiled and went on my way.

There's a dunmer in windhelm who always talks to himself when I first arrive. There's supposed to be a nord he's speaking to but instead it looks like he's gone bonkers and is talking to a barrel.

I am infuriated more by glitches (even small ones) and bugs than anyone else in the world.

Not because they ruin my game often, and many others' games, but because of the principle.

TES has always had massive success, because they made a name for themselves in creating the most massive open world games out there.

My beef is, how does a game creator deserve a gold star for making a big, giant, huge, enormous, gargantuan game, when it is stocked full to bursting with glitches and bugs?

Should I get an award for growing the biggest pumpkin in the universe, even though the growth hormone I used to grow it, made it the universe's biggest pumpkin full of holes?

It doesn't impress me to see Bethesda make a massive game, if the game is full of bugs and glitches.

That is just a sign of quantity over quality.

once when i had it on xbox i started a new game and in the very beginning sequence where your riding with the three guys, i found that i wasn't! i was sitting outside the carriage staring at it with all the npc's with that scene standing around staring at me. I couldn't move or anything and the sound of the carriage was looping in the background. Strangest thing ever!

I ran into a bug where
Spoiler
when watching the past with the Elder Scroll, the Nord heroes were just hitting Alduin forever
, while he wouldn't react a bit...in fact, judging by his movements, it would seem he was just getting his hair shaved. I can't decide if that was pathetic or hilarious...

Louise Letrush and his constant cloning is quite possibly the most terrifying thing I can say I have ever seen in a game and Silent Hill 3 is considered by me to be the most terrifying game I have played. Three Louise Letrush clones is almost fever dream nightmare scary. Not the fun kind of scary. Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim have a very scary thing in common: the voice acting of multiple NPCs being played at the same time is enough to make me forget I'm human if I found myself listening to even three Louise Letrushes talking at once for an hour.

Maybe it's just my ears and brain finding this as scary as the curse the five humans in the story I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream is. That short story was able to make me fear the singularity. I'm amazed I'm not as afraid of clones now.

I've got 11 Louise Letrushs outside Whiterun. That's right, 11. They all stand huddled next to one that's clipped waist down in the ground. I like to keep them around, it's hilarious when a dragon attacks or you kite them into a giants camp.

I've had many radiant quests where I am to kill giants, but when I go and kill them they are really OTHER wildlife.

I do suspect that is not a glitch, but due to a modder mucking up files that he shouldn't have, however.

Having in mind issues like Esbern's voice not playing that earlier versions of the game had, I cannot but agree with that. And wonder how Bethesda betatesters do their job.

The most shocking glitch for me, was an old now patched glitch where if you tried to get married to a follower but had already had a previous follower die, their body would show up in the temple. I was so :( when I was trying to marry Aela and Lydia's dead body showed up by the door and Aela acted all mad and walked out.

With me it's always horses. I myself almost got hit by one. The mammoths only came raining down twice up 'til now.

once when i had it on xbox i started a new game and in the very beginning sequence where your riding with the three guys, i found that i wasn't! i was sitting outside the carriage staring at it with all the npc's with that scene standing around staring at me. Are you the one who recorded it and sent it to GameFails (see youtube)? Very funny glitch, that one. Ulfric & co were all looking at you like "what the heck are you waiting for?! Take that shovel from the side of the carriage already!"

11 is conspiracy. Letrush must be the first of anyone in Tamerial to clone himself with a horse.
