So, is it me or is there absolutely no need to feed now?

Besides being super nerfed by the sun to the point that a battle with a dragon is a death wish and being at the point where even with a daedric armor set you may still get one shotted if its a fire dragon?

Also the spells you get for not feeding are there...so you will feed.

lol

I don't get why people say there isn't a reason to feed.

Do people enjoy being one shotted by fire spells?

I mean they even buffed Vampire's seduction so when used on a enemy/villager they become your temporary thrall and if you attempt to talk to them you get an option to feed on them.

Never saw the logic in encouraging vampires not to feed.

In my opinion, when you're a fledgling vampire, you should start out with minimum bonuses and maximum weaknesses. The sun will obliterate you in minutes, your skin might as well be made out of gasoline as far as fire mages are concerned, your drain spell is terrible, etc. However, as you feed more and more, you become more powerful, and the weaknesses become less and less and the bonuses become greater and greater, until you're able to take on an entire legion single handedly in an evening.

Increased powers should be your reward for doing what a vampire would really do. You should be stronger when you've fed and weaker when you're starving.

Atronach Perk + Atronach Stone + Necromage = Complete Magic Absorption, making your weakness to fire completely moot.

Necromage Vampire with 100% spell absorption.

Perhaps I should have clarified that.

So, for Necromage Vamps with 100% spell absorption, is feeding absolutely unnecessary or am I missing something?

Well lore wise the not feeding was only for Cyrodillic vampires...unless they changed that somewhere.

I still prefer to keep my vampire character well fed simply because I dislike being killed by a firebolt spell from a conjured flame atronach. As for the magic absorbtion, unless they changed something it still bugs out on beneficial spells and buffs. It's no fun when you no longer can heal yourself because your healing spell was absorbed!

Even that never seemed really explained by any of the books or info I read about Oblivion (still haven't had the chance to play it), but I could at least go along with it for this special and unique strain of vampirism.

But for the rest of them? It doesn't make sense at all.

Indeed.

If I'm going to be a necromage vamp cloth mage (Redundant, much?) I'm going to put myself on equal footing with those sword 'n board characters.

50% fire weakness is easily countered with magic or fire resistance. There is literally no point to feeding now, you have extra powers when you don't feed that you don't have at stage one.

Armor has nothing to do with magic resistance, enchantments and active effects give you magic resistance.

I'm only feeding to get all the perks.. after that I won't feed often unless I am going against fire enemies.
