There are absolutely no bracers or gloves in game that would

Using a shield and spell. I thought there would be at the least gauntlets that fortify blocking that can be randomly found in game. But there are no generic magic apparel in game that do that, or anything else that this build might make use of.

I really wanted to use alchemy as the crafting skill for this build but it looks like I am going to have to go enchanting or else I would be stuck with regular unenchanted gauntlets, or something that really doesn't have any use to me like lockpicking or alchemy. But it wouldn't help at all in combat.

There is the Shield of Solitude which fortifies Blocking, and resist magic.

edit: Excuse me, I misunderstood. You want to not use Enchanting and get only bracers, etc with Fortify blocking, correct?

You technically don't have to if you want to enchant a pair of decent gauntlets, but I'd recommend putting in the 5 perk points to maximize it's effect. Are you creating an anti-magic character?

Admittedly, your build is a very unusual one and it's not surprising that it's difficult to find equipment suited towards it. It's not like the game forbids you to have gauntlets with Fortify Block - it just doesn't hand them to you. But you have a way of obtaining them, a very magey way, so I say it's fair.

I honestly don't see a problem with the fact that not every character is equally easy to build and play, and that not all kinds of equipment are easily available. You don't even have to wear enchanted gauntlets - most of my characters don't and they're perfectly fine.

Also, if you plan to specialize in alchemy why is Fortify Alchemy useless?

My shield spell used alchemy to create resistance potions. He worked out fine.

I try to restrict myself to only one crafting school per character

I thought that a battlemage type build that uses a shield and spell rather than spell and sword would be interesting and something I haven't tried yet. I thought that alchemy would make for a more interesting build and that I would be focusing on magicka regen and using items already in game Nahikrin, Ring of Recovery, Gauldur Amulet. I would also be wearing a robe with heavy gauntlets, boots, and helmet. The shields in game are pretty much better than what you could make anyway with things like spellbreaker, Auriel's shield, the rune shield, and a few others im sure. So investing in enchanting just for gauntlets, and maybe boots seems to be a bit of a waste.

The alchemy gloves wouldn't be that bad because I could make stronger potions on the go. like when you just come across one in a dungeon.

I thought at the least there would be gauntlets of blocking in game....

Could I maybe just use the restoration potion exploit to make a potion that fortifies enchanting enough to make gauntlets of fortify block without perking enchanting at all?

Edit: Forgot the Aetherial Shield, perhaps the best one for this build.

You could also use Fortify Alchemy gauntlets to create Fortify Block potions :)
